Summary

What kind of people, in what kind of town would elect a DOG as their mayor? That's the central question that drives the Documentary Feature: Rabbit Hash,  The Center of the Universe.  Rabbit Hash, Kentucky is a very real town. A slice of near forgotten small town Americana that just doesn't seem to exist much anymore.  A town that has survived through fires, massive floods, births and deaths and through it all has kept enough of a sense of humor about themselves to actually elect a dog named GOOFY as their mayor.      Mayor Goofy Partly a slam on the corruption of Kentucky politics and part fund-raiser for a run down church, the election was nonetheless very real.  A dollar a vote...the candidate that raises the most money wins..."just like a real election".    In the end their were three humans, a pot bellied pig, a donkey and three dogs running in the heated Rabbit Hash race, but ultimately a black and tan mutt named Goofy won paws down, with nearly 9000 dollars contributed to his campaign.   Rabbit Hash - Center of the Universe features all the real town folk and a special appearance by country music superstar and Kentucky native, WYNONNA JUDD.  Rabbit Hash combines the engrossing storytelling styles of ROGER and ME and SPELLBOUND, with the off beat and hilarious humor of WAITING FOR GUFFMAN and BEST IN SHOW.    But unlike those MOCKumentaries, Rabbit Hash is very real, a real town that elected a real dog as mayor.    Trust us...we couldn't make this stuff up!
