Somebody I think needs to answer for what is probably the worst Bond film ever!! Who in their right mind gave the job of directing to Marc Forster? A man who is obviously a good story teller, but was he the man to direct a high octane action film? I don’t think so.

Here we have a great bond, Daniel Craig, who is a no-nonsense hard hitting character. I can’t for one minute fault him or his performance, as a Bond I like him. Though I was sceptical when he was first selected I think he has proved the critics wrong. He suits the part and plays it extremely well.

We have a good supporting cast, who again I can’t fault. For the most part this film should have worked and worked well. But it doesn’t, the lack of a solid story lets it down but even then I think a more seasoned action film director could have pulled it around.

To me the main problems are the editing and the directing. The opening sequence is a load of fast choppy cuts that leaves you wondering who is chasing who? It’s like sensory overload. The directing well I just think Marc Forster was out of his depth on this I really do. He tried to unfold it as a narrative rather than focus on what a bond film is about, action, women and gadgets.

A typical case in point, while we at the Opera we have an action sequence going on involved with Bond, that is interspersed with cuts to the Opera performance. If I am watching an action film I do want to see the action!!

To me this is an odd film; normally there are numerous reasons why a film falls flat. Here I see one mistake at the start that works its way through the entire film. To me that mistake was selecting Marc Forster as the director for this type of film.

I really liked this movie, I would probably put it at #7 on my favorite 2008 films.

I liked the George Lazenby one, people have to remember he was following in Sean Connery's footsteps. Whoever it had been would have had trouble because Connery was very good as Bond. Roger Moore was fine as well, not my favourite bond but some of the early films were good.

Don't get me wrong I like Daniel Craig, thought he was excellent as Bond even in this film. Just as a Bond/Action film it didn't work for me - but not because of Bond or any of the cast. Just because I think the director didn't have a clue on how to make this type of 'action' orientated film.

If you look at his past films, 'The Kite Runner', 'Finding Neverland' he doesn't to me have the resume of somebody that should direct a bond film. Casino Royale was directed by Martin Campbell who has a long history of being involved with action orientated projects and it showed to me in the final product.

I really enjoyed the movie and think it is far from the worst Bond film. For example have you seen On Her Majesty's Secret Service with George Lazenby? Not to mention the fact that I would much rather watch Daniel Craig than Roger Moore any day.
