Nice movie..But not that cool!
OK after viewing this movie a few more times I have noticed it's a total rip off of the first one and as a long time Predator fan I can say that it doesn't stand up to the 2 originals and IMO this is on par with the first AVP and that's me being nice. Wolf from AVP-R would have kicked all the Super Predators asses single handed and IMO AVP-R even kicks this movie's ass! I'm a huge predator fan and have been one since the 80's and now I'm glad they're trying to reboot my favorite franchise, but they gotta do it better than this! It's like just because Rodriguez's name is behind it, people are kissing ass, but what did he do that was so great with this film? Predator 2 is 100 times better! The AVP movies both have more originality than this one, but as far as acting goes, yeah Predators does win, but as far as action and entertainment, Predators looses against AVP-R and lands right next to the first AVP IMO.. Call me crazy, but as a fan I just gotta speak my opinion!

Damn right MrP, it is a free universe and I totally agree with what you said below. But seriously dude you need to check this sh*t out. It definately kicks AVP out the backdoor.

Still can't wait too see it as I missed out. Hope it is a worthy successor to the first one as 2 and the AVP franchise just sucked. Some people need to get out more often, laying down the law about what the Predators should and shouldn't do. It's not healthy. I do believe Preds have a freedom of choice to gut you any way they see fit. After all its a free Universe.

The fact that you got a huge humanoid rastafarian from another planet with a blade attached to his arm, a cannon on his shoulder, Fcking awesome headgear and skilled at peeling of the flesh off your back is a statement on it's own. There ain't a single movie director out there that can make Predator look bad even if they wanted too. Predators is an A Movie hands down.
I don't know guys, you may be nitpicking the movie just a bit too much. It's just two hours of entertainment and I felt like I was entertained when I left. I don't know if it requires going this in depth over. Maybe I'm just not as big a Predator fan? I also haven't heard RR say anything negative about the franchise either, I mean why would he bother to write the story if he didn't like it to some degree.

Vikinger>> I totally agree about the James Cameron part, but I don't think we'll ever see that happen, because he's not a big fan of the Predator franchise. You know what, as much as I like the sword fight in the new movie, I have to admit, the Predators blades would've cut the sword in half because they're made out of a different metal that they talk about in Predator 2 that cuts through anything almost. About the spear, well the first predator in the first movie never had any other weapon except for wrist blades and his shoulder canon, he never had a spear. The spear was first introduced in Dark Horse's first Predator comic that came out in 1989, "Concrete Jungle". After that the next movie to come out, Predator 2 incorporated the spear and added new weapons and even if the comic was based around different people, you can clearly see that Predator 2 was written and based off of the comic "Predator Concrete Jungle" as well. About the invisible part, yeah, they usually stay cloaked, but they do turn of the cloaking devise when they're going after worthy prey and according to the new Predators movie, I guess you can say all these guys are worthy prey because they have all been hand picked by the Predators themselves. Nimrod Antal did use things from the comics in this movie, you can clearly see it, but if he would've been the main man in charge, I bet you that there would have been more, because of what he's said in his interviews. Rodriguez is the main guy who straight up has said that he does not like the Predator franchise at all except for the first movie, everything else to him is bad and I'm with you all the way on what you said earlier, a person who doesn't like a franchise should not be involved in making a movie for it either. He doesn't have to like all the movies and comics, but he sure as hell should respect what they have established, he shouldn't go talking sh*t about them. And his super predators, honestly they look like something out of the comics, and IMO there is nothing super about them, they remind me of a clan called "The Killers" that came out in the last comic called "Predator Prey to the Heavens"... Anyway, the movie was entertaining, I really liked it, although it could've been even better if they didn't steal scenes from the original Predator and remake them and also I totally agree with what you are saying about RR.

Watch the two prequels and you feel sucked-in to the movies for two prime reasons: One, you wanna root for Arnold and Glover's characters as underdogs by a long margin, TWO, you feel something but you don't know what...since you can't see the darn thing. It's a widely concluded fact in psycology that what humans can't see is what they fear the most..the fear of "unknown" ranks higher than Entomophobia (fear of insects). So, for starters, why would Rodriguez make the Predators so visible right there in front of you every time? If you remember the DarkHorse comics "Predator: Rouge" and "Predator: Siberian killers" or "Predator: Underworld", then you will remember that Predators hardly ever shed their camouflage. AND, that they do show themselves right before the kill when pinning their hunt down. Its a ritual for their world. Just like they have to stalk their prey, can't kill when convenient. Rodriguez forgot these types of peculiar Predator facts throughout the movie. Predator scanner sees and visualizes the spectra of light, so a high intensity heat bloom emiting higher infra-Red on spectrascope doesn't appear greyish white, it appears almost crimson Red. Then, a 10-foot tall Predator will have the reach of at least 4 feet in arms length, simply by allometric rules, so it would be hard to penetrate him with a small Yakooza sword without getting shreded by his massive wrist shears...right. Did I mention that those shears are extentions of his right wrist. This one's a big one even if we ignore all of the other gaffs. What is the Predator's primary weapon??? His retractable spear. How many times we saw that weapon in this movie? Predtaors don't hunt without it. Bring in Peter Jackson or Ridley Scott or better yet James Cameron to serve this great genera right....PLEASE!

Vikinger>> Now I don't agree with the mediocre part of your comment, but I do agree with what you said about RR talking sh*t about the comics! I enjoyed this movie, but at times the damn movie felt like a remake. I've been a fan of Predator since the first movie came out, I grew up with it and the comics and have followed it ever since. When I heard RR talking so much sh*t about the previous installments in the franchise and saying he was staying away from all that has been established in movies and comics and only going after what the first movie established I was kinda pissed, because as a fan I feel like who is he to disregard a mythology that has been built up over 20 years and this dude just comes on board and thinks he can change sh*t around? Now I'm glad Nimrod was directing this movie, because if it wasn't for him, I believe the movie would have been way worse. Nimrod Antal has stated in interviews that he loves everything about the Predator franchise, he grew up on movies and comics. He loved Predator 2, he's a huge fan of the AVP comics and even if the AVP movies weren't the greatest, he doesn't just bash them, he actually says good things about the people who made them and that they meant well, even if the movies themselves weren't what they could've been. I like RR's other movies like Desperado and From Dusk Til Dawn, but I gotta be honest, if he is to touch another Predator movie, he needs to come down to earth and recognize what the comics and other movies have established. Just because he doesn't like them, he can't disregard it, because then he's sh*tting on the fans and acting the same way Samuel Bayer did when he remade A Nightmare On Elm Street and totally screwed up everything... Everybody has their own opinions, but this is just mine. Like I said I did enjoy "Predators", I even went to see it twice, but it does lack originality at times and the Producer of this movie get's outta line in his comments about the rest of the franchise.
I thought Nimrod did a decent job with this one. Not as good as the first film but I still enjoyed it. Would like to see RR direct the next one though.
Once again, and this time Rodriguez ended up doing a mediocre job with such a promising concept. Face it folks, creativity is either leaving or have left this once great country where great imagination freely roamed the land. My generation grew up on SciFi, cheesy, fun-filled and wholesome entertaining stuff... and it was good and honest to itself first. Now, these schmuck "directors" roll out of bed and insult a movie-goer by putting up something...anything... that still covers the overhead and payrolls of their "project" and lets them pocket enough millions for their rancid life styles. I guess that oughtta do it right? They have ruined the classical imagination of the previous American cinema art, cheesy yes, but still a joyfull experience. What's with the characters? Do you feel anything at all for either single character? Rodriguez said "I stayed away from the comic"...really! Well, how did that work out? Where did his understanding of the Predator comes from then...Arnold's view? And, let's talk pure SciFi. IF a more superior species has collided with the Predator world, then let me be the first to inform Rodriguez, the Japanese Yakooza sword won't do much for that new species. Predator is the most bad ass alien species that rules the galactic realms..PERIOD. If I remember correctly, the Asian mercenary girl in the oridginal Predator was a week dependent character, so how did she grow up to be a bad ass Black ops Guatemalan Marine? The character of the planet survivor managed to survive for "seven seasons", and yet offers himself to the Predator on a plate in a heartbeat...doesn't make sense. There are enormous gaffs in this movie. And, Brody would have been very promising for the sequels.
This movie was good, but at times it took too much from the original. I personally liked Predator 2 better, but it was definitely good to see the Preds back on the silver screen again.
Good to know, sounds like this one would be better on the big screen over waiting to watch at the house.
yeah i saw it yesterday. it was great. best since the original one.

Predators is a very fun, extremely entertaining, mindless, and action packed summer movie that we've all been waiting for. Adrian Brody is a great choice for his role and the supporting cast also delivers. See this movie, not only if your a fan of Predators but also if you want to have a fun time at the theater and if your up for a kick ass, action packed, cool summer film.
