The cast was great with all checks. Dynamic, diverse and there's a somewhat hot chick;however, she is hell-of annoying. I thought that they were each killed off with pretty good timing and the inmate's was the best kill in my opinion. I was also amused at how much Riddick attitude Adrien Brody was channeling with his role; I kept thinking of "There's only one speed.. My speed", but he did unexpectedly well at maintaining the bad-ass quality. As far as Laurence Fishbourne I thought it was genius that they made him out to be some schizo, who was actually pretty bad ass himself.
Moving on, the Predators were awesome. Each one had their own personalized mask except for the Classic Predator with the same ol' design and they all seemed to ditch the double blade for the single long-ass one instead.. I loved how they added their new growls and they don't sound like a dying pig anymore every time they roar, but there wasn't enough of that immortalized Predator "purr". I have a fever.. and the only prescription is more Predator Purr!
Regarding the additional creatures I thought the Predator hounds was a great addition, not to mention intense; though, some seemed to die easier than others. I didn't really understand the meaning of the robot-eagle-predator thing since it was only there once and didn't do much of anything the Predators couldn't do themselves, but it was still pretty cool. And those other creatures, what were they for again? food? I think it actually could have used more creatures since their in a friggin' planet, but we don't want another Pandora either or to take away attention from the Predators more than the movie already had.
On that note I think the movie did not focus on the actual Predators as much as it should have. AVP gave the Predators more attention.
I thought everything else was cool and the actors' reactions to a CG environment were great! Royce and Ms. Guatemala had an odd chemistry. Erick Foreman played a wimpy creep pretty well, though it was obvious he wasn't there for being a good doctor. Oleg Taktarov was cut-throat, but not as much as Mr. Yakuza. The sword fight was the highlight of the movie and something that would come straight out of Rodriguez's head. The inmate was awesome and his 5-o'clock bitch-raping time was hilarious. The African rebel was pretty cliche but he died in a cool way. Unfortunately Danny Trejo was not in the movie as much as I would like. Why didn't the Predators just kidnap Machete?! There's a movie in itself eh.
Overall I say this is a definite redemption to that insult that was AVP-R. I look forward to seeing more Super Predators doing some sweet spine-ripping fatalities. I think they could have skipped the blood feud and just used the Classic predators as scouts or something in that line instead. Maybe the Predators should also fix their only weakness which seems to be the infra-red vision against mud and bright heat. Also to remember to take off their mask when they can't see for sh*t and their getting their ass kicked.
Go watch this movie. I tried not to spoil anything that was not kinda obvious/predictable, then again there aren't any huge twists. This movie serves its purpose, which is to bring back the Predators without the Aliens and keep us wanting more. Don't try to compare it to the first one because the main element of the first movie was that we had never seen a bad guy like this before. That first predator was going for some pretty sh*tty trophies anyway before Arnold and his team got there, so it deserved to get his ass ironically handed to him.
