Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is a 2007 adventure fantasy film, the third film in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

and Jonathan Pryce. With special appearance by Keith Richards.

Welcome old friends, for it brings jolly to me self at seeing your face again, but is no time to hear your stories, for there be dark waters to cross and this time it not but the end of the earth your compass will seek. Soon, you will have to choose a side. What have ye to say you pitiful dog? Our favorite pirate, after being swallowed whole by Davy Jones's behemoth, Captain Barbossa, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann sail off the edge of the map, literally, to bring back good old Cap. Jack Sparrow from the locker and return to the world of the living to face the final battle between the East India trading Company and it's Lord Cutler Beckett, who now commands the sea through Davy Jones. With the joining of all Pirate Lords, the war begins, and rum be drunk.

Yo, ho, haul together, hoist the colors high.Heave ho,thieves and beggars, never shall we die.The king and his men stole the queen from her bed and bound her in her Bones. The seas be ours and by the powers where we will we'll roam.Yo, ho, haul together, hoist the colors high. Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never say we die. Some men have died and some are alive and others sail on the sea with the keys to the cage...and the Devil to pay we lay to Fiddler's Green! The bell has been raised from it's watery grave... Do you hear it's sepulchral tone? We are a call to all, pay head the squall and turn your sail toward home! Yo, ho, haul together, hoist the colors high. Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never say we die.

Dangerous words to sing, no?

The third installment of the pirate franchise, the most expensive film of all time and the end to a trilogy. While the critics may have sunk this to the bottom of the abyss, it's still a favorite film to all, even to me. But one must be honest even to all the films they love. I did enjoy seeing Johnny Depp and crew return after a year from the release of Dead man's Chest, but unexpected. Yes, it was filmed back to back, but released to quickly; then again, with a huge budget, you can't help but throw blood (the movie) into the water and make sure all the sharks (us) come to feed.

What really stuck out was the first 4 minutes and 33 seconds, watching Lord Cutler Beckett hang all the conspirators to pirates, even the little boy. Way to send a message, eh Disney? Then we go into Singapore. OK, STOP!! Considering time is never an importance inside the film, since editing can cut through all that, we go from the Caribbean into Singapore? The trade winds and, easterlies, westerlies, whichever must have been hauling our saviors to their destination. Well, least we know if was enough time to have Jones obliterate some pirate ships, Norrington being promoted to Admiral and then journeying, if you can believe it, to the polar ice caps in search of World's End. Again, the magic of editing and giving the illusion of time not being a problem. But did it have to take a full 32 minutes to get to see Jack Sparrow? Must be incredible to breath in the land of the dead. But as always, his entrance with the Black Pearl or any mode of transportation was astonishing as always. impossible? I think not mate.

The Actors:

Johnny Depp: Glad to see he never lost his touch as Captain Jack Sparrow. always the one to keep the movie going with great humor, crazy stunts and lots and lots of rum.

Geoffrey Rush: Came back from the dead eh Captain Hector "Chartman" Barbossa? Never fails to see a familiar performance from Sparrow's greatest adversary.

Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly: Returning as the inseparable, now officially turned pirate couple, fight to the bitter end yet again. Only problem is, Keira felt a little off in this thirds installment, and Bloom just wasn't working anymore. Sure, they got serious, but in the way if you catch my drift at seas.

Tom Hollander: Second best performance by far in this movie. To me, if the character angers you to the brink of how amazing of a villain they can be, you can't help but love how much you hate them. Get what I mean?

Bill Nighy: As much as I love the many roles he takes, there's just one question...What the hell man? how did the malevolent Davy Jones go weak on us? it wasn't till the last battle in the whirlpool that we finally grew some brass to command as we wanted him to. And the entire time going "Calypso, Calypso, Calypso"....ugh.

Chow Yun Fat: A brilliant performance good pirate Captain Sao Feng.

The Visuals:

Up to code as Dead Man's chest. Well, it;s a good thing it was since they bloody costed $300 million booty. The background could have used a little more work to make it not too noticeable that the ship wasn't ever near water and in a studio with green screens. The ship crossing worlds from withing the sea was incredible. Now we know Jones doesn't just stay under water doing nothing. Then entire battle sequence in the whirlpool was another hit, and where you really see the money's worth, especially Pirate Cove, land of the Pirate Lords.

The Bad: To name a few, the length was to get to the point was exhausting, for some. The continuity of the whirlpool battle felt a little insulting, and the stunts made a few of the characters too great at what they did, if you know what I mean. We see some of the Caribbean but then it went dark and foggy all over again. And the Brethren Court chickened out too? Come ON!!! Morgan Adams would have taken the entire armada and the Dutchman on her own!

The Questionable: I'm still wondering, where in the world did Keira keep that massive pistol?

Overall:

A powerful end though some might call it a sinking ship.

And so, we leave our pirate couple to their separate worlds, as Will Turner now commands the Dutchman, and Mrs. Swann awaits his return every decade. After 4 years of searching, we finally catch up to our good pirate, Sparrow, in search of immortality. Drink up me hearties, YO-HO!!!!!

Savvy?
