It's Jesus to save the day! Jim Caviezel returns to a rare spotlight in Outlander which turns out to be an action packed/scifi adventure to the fullest. I dont want to spoil the movie so I'll keep this review nice and short.
In the first five minutes of the film you see a reference to Planet of the Apes in a weird way..but without the apes of course! The story is about a man who crashes into the "viking" era I believe.. but not alone with a killer dragon. Captured by the vikings who are currently at war, they see him as a spy or much better...an outlander. The story is something like the combination of Vikings and Dragons which actually worked very well.
Caviezel and the nice supporting cast of John Hurt, Ron Perlman, Jack Huston, and Sophia Myles deliver their roles very well. There's a good performance by Huston who definately has a bright future ahead of him. I think though, the Perlman character could have definately been more well developed, but they did what they could I guess.
Visuals are not spectacular, it's just decent enough. But there are several fight scenes which will please the action audience as well as the scifi audience. With numerous stunts and at times nonstop action, Outlander has done what some action summer movies have not.. and that is impress and deliver!!

I really enjoyed this movie as well and also wrote a review. I wish this film received more exposure because it deserves it.
