No Reservations is not a bad movie, but it's not a very good one either. While one can't fault the cast (Catherine Zeta Jones, Aaron Eckhart, and Abigail Breslin are all very talented), the film's writer fails to make any of the characters interesting. There is actually one opportunity where the main character is asked about her past, and she actually brushes it off, saying "let's talk about something else". That's lazy writing, and because of it, this movie just sort of plods along without ever really going anywhere. But, it takes place in a kitchen, and the food is the best part of the movie. You're better off watching the Food Network, where, at least you aren't led to expect that the players are supposed to be interesting.
