Night of the Templar: Synopsis
They were Warriors. They were Crusaders. Under the leadership of the righteous Lord Gregoire, this band of brothers in the Holy Order of the Knights Templar selflessly fought back-to-back, defending God and the “True Cross.”
Until one dark night of utter betrayal...
Glorious was their victory that night; gold their find. The spoils were to be taken to their Grandmaster for use in furthering their “Cause.” Yet greed had infected one of their number – Lord Renault – and under the influence of the demon of lust, he embraced and fiendishly persuaded others to help him carry out his nefarious plan of betrayal.
Among those whose hearts he blackened was the already resentful Menas, envious of his brother Melkon, the man famed as being both the greatest swordsman in all of the Mediterranean and the right hand of Lord Gregoire.
The following night Renault’s heinous plot went into effect and Gregoire, Melkon and their beloved steward Koko were ambushed and executed for purposes of greed.
But as he lay dying, Gregoire vowed his revenge. "Ten Lifetimes of Excess" Renault and his murdering compatriots would enjoy. And then he would return to deliver their souls to Hell for all eternity.
Ten lifetimes of excess...
The centuries pass and after 700 years, the allotted time of the evil-doers nears culmination. The spirit of the Crusader resurrects to execute his pledge of vengeance upon the now kindred spirits of those who victimized him so very long ago.
Jake McCallister, the “events coordinator” will have his hands full playing host to his young guests; Celine, the alluring and promiscuous Russian temptress, Ashley, the contemptuous yet beautiful Australian socialite, Amy, the innocent and meek girl-next-door, Japoniko the mysterious Asian minimalist, and Henry, the predatorial American playboy.
Shauna, the abrasive Irish cook, and her cohort in crime Benoit, the bone-idle English caretaker, along with the enigmatic German Priest Father Paul, and the benevolent local Shopkeeper, round out this unusual and extremely colorful cast of characters.
Blood will flow excessively as the cursed and unsuspecting kindred spirits meet their imminent destinies one-by-one.
Hell is Eternal, as is the Wrath of Vengeance.
Only the righteous shall survive, for this will truly be the NIGHT OF THE TEMPLAR.

OK here is how I do this. I grade movies on 10 components. Each component will inherently start with 5 points. It can then lose or gain 5 points for a possible 10 or 0.
Mood - Action, Romance, History, Comedy, Drama, Horror, Mystery, Suspense - I give this component 10 points. It had a perfect balance of all eight aspects. The Action was fun and exiting. The Romance was not overdone, but still very emotional and moving. I laughed hard and long throughout the movie and still I was captivated by the fantastic drama, and riveting suspense.
Plot - I give this component 10 points. Surprising and twisting, extremely well scripted and acted.
Cinema Photography - I give this component 9 points. While the movie captured the story very well in the majority of the angles, I found myself more than once trying to figure out what happened just off camera.
FX - I give this component 10 points. I love that they used C.G.I. sparingly. The epic scenes were believable. The slaughter scenes were frighteningly realistic. All in all less is more, and this had it ALL!
Cast - I give this component 10 points. No names and seasoned actors alike, the cast was amazing! Udo Kier was wonderfully wicked, Norman Reedus made bad boy Henry Flesh come to life, Paul Sampson was absolutely brilliant, and I will never look and Billy Drago the same again.
Acting - I give this component 10 points. Even the newbie actors played their rolls to perfection. Once again, I will NEVER look and Billy Drago the same.
Character development - I give this component 9 points. Again, fantastically written and acted, and if the movie had been longer then maybe there had been room for more background stories, but I'm not complaining. Just pointing out that the characters are all so interesting that you want to get to know them all better.
Dialogue - I give this component 10 points. The dialogue was smart, witty, fun... even the mush had good and sharp tounge-in-cheek dialogue.
Score - I give this component 10 points. I can honestly remember all of music from the entire movie. Evan Evans is a musical genius!
Ending - I give this component 10 points. Almost perfect ending! Although every girl wants a kiss! ;)
Total: 99% Buy the DVD? HELL YES! See it in the Theatre? Most definitely! Bottom Line: Excellent movie for everyone! EPIC! I know I'll be going back for seconds! A Cult movie in the making!
