Moulin Rouge: Review By Rayniedaygirl

As with most of Baz's productions, you either love it or hate it. There is never an in between "it was okay" feeling. No matter what you think of the script, or the acting, the filming is unique and the costumes amazing!

No one can make a modern period piece like Baz Luhrman! His filming and editing techniques are origional and facinating. He uses some amazing sets, costumes, and modern music to tell a timeless story. Boy meets girl, girl is off limits, girl and boy fall in love, they are torn apart, and girl dies. He does however manage to make the story fresh and new. The soundtrack uses both remade madern classics and some new music thrown in. Add to that the fact that the actors do all thier own singing and you have an interesting mix! I suggest everyone watch it once, if only to open up to something different and have something to talk about. Those that enjoyed his modern remake of Romeo + Juliet will enjoy it. Those that hated it... well you will have one more reason to trash him!
