'Mirrors' Review By Solar XI
What exactly was Mr. Sutherland thinking when he signed on for this film? The film gets you at times but what the hell were they thinking?
Sutherland plays Ben Carson, a suspended police officer and recovering alcoholic who lives with his younger sister Angela (Amy Smart). He gets a job as a night watchman at a burned down department store and his personal life go wrong once he discovers one giant mirror.
Paula Patton also stars as Amy Carson, Ben's wife and mother of his children. He tries to explain to her the craziness his life has become when the mirrors become simply terrifying. Carson begins searching for clues as to why mirrors make him crazy.
The film was horrible, the directing was bad (though I did like Aje's The Hills Have Eyes), and why did Paula Patton have to be part of it as well. Although Patton gave the best acting in the film. For those who don't know Patton, she starred in the Denzel Washington thriller "Deja Vu" and Outkast's "Idlewild". She's also the wife of singer Robin Thicke (son of actor Alan Thicke).
Back to Mr. Sutherland, what was going through his mind when he signed on for this lousy remake. I'm not a fan of Sutherland, personally, but I am highly aware of who he is.
Amy Smart co-stars as Angela Carson, Ben's sister and probably has less than twenty minutes screen-time. The trailers for this film were too revealing and we knew from jump that she was going to die. Her reflection pulls her jaw and rips it off her head, leaving her to die naked in a bathtub full of blood and water.
I have nothing more to say about this film except, I do not recommend this film. The film has it's jumps and quick-frightens but that's all you are going to get out of it. By the time you are done you are going to be as confused as Ben Carson.
