Men in Black 3(D) is the third movie in the MIB franchise that helped launch Will Smith's movie carrier. After a dull sequel that I tried to forget, their was little hope left in this franchise. Ten years have passed, and many movie-goers have forgotten about the wild and crazy adventures of the two Agents Jay and Kay as they set to take care of alien sc*m from invading earth.
In this installment, Agent Jay must travel back in time to help save Agent Kay from being erased from MIB history, as well as stopping an alien who's out for revenge for what happened back in 1960's.
When the movie started, I was all excited and giddy to see Men in Black back on the silver screen. After about 35 minutes into this movie, I lost interest. I felt that the jokes seemed too forced and thought "okay, I get it Will Smith is still funny". Then, all of a sudden things got interesting!
BOOM! As Agent Jay travels back in time, so does the movie itself. The whole formula changes and goes back to where it first was when Men in Black came out in 1997. It was fresh and entertaining. The 60's jokes were hilarious, and I loved Josh Brolin's acting as a young Agent Kay.
Also, being that it's been nearly four years after we last saw Smith in a summer movie, let alone his powerful performance from I Am Legend, Smith still did a fine job at doing what made him famous: being funny.
As for Tommy Lee Jones, he wasn't in the movie that much, but his impact was still there. The movie's main villain, Boris the Animal (or "Just Boris") played by the unrecognizable Jermaine Clement did a fine job. He was a different villain that hasn't been done before in the film franchise. He might not of been that much of a "dangerous threat" but he still was a bad-ass villain.
Not to mention, but the 3D in this movie totally rocks! The added 3D gimmick really works for this movie and I recommend you seeing it in 3D if you haven't already.
Men in Black 3, better than MIB2, but not as great as the first Men in Black. (Jesus, I sounded like Sean in that last sentence). Let me correct myself, Men in Black 3 is an average movie that is a nice escape from that summer heat. It's a little rough in the beginning but stay with it because it will soon pick up pace and you're going to have fun! It's like riding a bike all over again... at first, you have a tough time, somewhat off balance but 30 minutes later you get the hang of it and you can't help but have fun.
