'Men in Black 3' Review By Forrestgump1

Thanks to the immersible talent of Josh Brolin and Will Smith, MIB 3 is a decent well earned surprised. That builds on its predecessor. There are alot of surprise moments and thrilling effects that serves its purpose. But the franchise should end here.

'Men In Black' is a fantastic film probably one of the best sci-fi films to grace the silver screen. Will Smith was just at the height of his career and proving what kind of actor he truly was. Pairing him with longtime vet Tommy Lee Jones, the duo were a match made in heaven. Now years later throw in a sequel and some 3D effects and we have Men In Black 3. I reassuringly good entry into the franchise. Now Men In Black 2 was no walk in the park, it was different in its own way, but felt rushed and really was only there for the $$. I still enjoy it, but it just lacks the charm that made the 1st one so memorable. Now Men In Black 3 has its own persona that will make it memorable which is the always superb Josh Brolin taking in that accent and look and feel of the younger version of Tommy Lee Jones classic character Agent K. Will Smith has his moments as usual but he really takes a back seat to the likes and talents Brolin does have to offer ..it truly is uncanny if you will. While the story is truly 'iffy' you would think with a staff of 6 writers the movie would have been better, but instead its really the performances that steal this show. Men In Black 3 is by no means terrible its just lacking..a story driven perspective but other than that its a fun ride that offers more than a few laughs and bringing back some great memorable Men In Black-Esq humor.

Story - In Men in Black 3, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back...in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K's life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him -- secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind

Story: (3/5) - The story perspective is really not intriguing enough to hold a candle to the first one. Possibly the second. But it does get a base going, but the time travel thing has been done to death and a 'time-jump' sequence that really was just a gimmick for the executives to mess with 3D and get your 'money's worth'. The villain is truly i suppose second-best out of the trilogy..Boris the Animal..pays better homage to the creature from MIB I ..then the Victoria Secret model in MIB 2. The story also leaves out some memorable characters that well made the other two what they were. The little insect fellas..barley make an appearance while Zed (Rip Torn) has past away and of course the lovable Pudgy dog..Frank not even in the film. Acting: (4/5) the strongest thing about this film..is of course the lead performances..while Tommy Lee Jones really sits out for this adventure so his younger ..'better'half' could step in Josh Brolin. Then there is the real draw ..pretty much why everyone making the trip to theaters. Will Smith. Hes been absent from movie theaters (last seen in 2008s Seven Pounds) has been doing alot of work behind the screen..rather than on. So audiences want there Smith fix..and he proves once again here why we love em so much..its his charm and loud obnoxiousness that make these films what Men In Black is. Directing: (3/5) - Barry Sonnenfeld directing his 3rd MIB outing..has well learned from the mishap of the sequel ..but still has some minor flaws..that don't distract to much from the movies experience..but the storytelling could be better. Visuals (3.5/5) - the film was shot for 3D did i see it in 3D? No, the 2D (in my opinion) is always the better way to go, but 3D gimmicks are clearly shown while screening it in 2D.

Overall: (3/5) Thanks to the immersible talent of Josh Brolin and Will Smith, MIB 3 is a decent well earned surprised. That builds on its predecessor. There are alot of surprise moments and thrilling effects that serves its purpose. But the franchise should end here. Yea there are some cool plot twist that kind of answer some long-awaited questions from the previous entry. New things are brought to light and we get to meet some new alien lifeforms (specifically some fish). With the talented leads and the overall feel of the film Men In Black 3 is worthy enough to call it self that. While it will not grace its presences on my best films of 2012 list, it should provide fans with enough enthusiasm and strong word of mouth to make the trip to cinemas. Its No where near the level capacity of Avengers and what that film..did for moviegoers (including myself). Will Smith still is one of the most bankable actors out there because hes the most cool and hip. While we still revert back to his old glory days on 'Fresh Prince'. Now im not big on the whole sci-fi bandwagon..and next weeks release of Promethus that im anxiously awaiting for ..truly shows me how much these films have changed and what they can really do when going to the movies. MIB 3 is not a must see..but something you should try at least once.
