Max Payne (MARK WAHLBERG) is an undercover police cop who is trying to find the murderer that killed his family, and while he's on the case, he meets and pairs up with Mona Sax (MILA KUNIS), who is also looking for the culprit that murdered her sister Natasha (OLGA KURYLENKO). What the two cops don't know...yet...is that an organization called the Devil's Army has created a new drug called Valkyr, which will make the drinker invincible; and they will also learn the truth about the dark birds that fly in the shadows around town. Let the action begin!
Mark Wahlberg, of course, was perfect playing the lead role; I actually thought Mila Kunis was pretty good playing Mona Sax, but I HAVE heard that she was horrible in a movie I haven't seen called "American Psycho 2," but Mila Kunis is still really HOT and I thought she was awesome in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall;" Olga Kurylenko was also smoking while playing Natasha; I don't give a crap about Ludacris co-starring in this movie; and last, John Moore whom I never heard of directs this movie.
Now that I love this movie, I feel like playing the video game too! Wish me luck if I do play the most popular video game based on the movie. I said it once but I'll say it again: LET THE ACTION BEGIN!

I'll still play the game, but yes, this movie feels more R-rated because there are a few f-words and some bloody graphics in it. I also watched a gameplay video of "Max Payne" on YouTube yesterday, and it's definitely my kind of game to play! I'll tell you guys what I think about the game if I do play it.

I have never played the game myself so I can not compare it like Ed and Yentz. I think at some point in the near future however I might pick up one of the games, they sound like I would enjoy them. I liked this film but did not think it was anywhere near a five star movie.

I agree yentz, this movie could have been so much more. It was ok, but the games are much better.

This movie was just disappointing because of what it could have been. If you play the games you'll understand. The first problem was that they tried to make it accessible for kids and families with the PG-13 rating... Both games (and the upcoming third) were never meant for children but a mature audience. Thus, the actual gritty, brutal narrative got completely lost in favor of a far lighter story that took what it wanted from the first game. The movie wasn't bad, but it could have been so much for if they had just kept to the tone and overall punch of the games which clearly depict Max as a man that's gradually breaking away--especially in the sequel entitled "The Fall of Max Payne" which almost sees him on a path to somewhat recovery. Definitely check out the games, especially since the third (and final) installment is coming out soon--and boy does it look cool (and quite different--Max is much older and sports a mustache/beard and a bald head).
