Jumping into it far too quick? Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, IM2, Thor, and Cap movies will have been made beforehand. This thing received its beginnings four years before it will be released. While there may be some reasons for nervousness, saying Marvel has jumped the gun is definitely not one of them.
There's a good possibility it could suck. The people above me are in denial. Iron Man 2 was pretty disappointing, Thor looks like a cheese fest, Edward Norton was replaced...but I'm gonna look on the bright side. There's plenty of good things it has going for it.

@insertusernamehere I'm not in denial about anything, dude. I just don't think his reason is a reason to think the movie could suck. If you want to get into the reasons why, Whedon's inexperience with big name actors is a reason. But jumping into The Avengers far too quickly? No, sorry, but that is not what happened.
Yes its possible it could suck majorly, due to a smaller budget (compared to some other big movies), shooting in a studio mostly and a unproven director IMO. But like other said it was a lot more going for than against it, so we will all just have to mind out come May 4th, 2012
Joss Whedon is a great character writer and i am vey pleased that he is behind this, i have high hopes...which i know i am just setting myself.

Agreed, @skywise . I see no reason this should suck. It's basically the same formula as Buffy (team of heroes) on a much larger scale, and Whedon excels at that dynamic.
They've been building towards this movie for years with multiple films before it. You couldn't be more wrong dude, in thinking they jumped the gun. I think the way Marvel has played their cards and their strategy has been good, they are developing their universe in a very connected way. Assuming Avengers goes over well (and I'm betting it will, I trust and have faith in Whedon), we've just seen the tip of the iceberg with superhero movies. Those that can't stand them, too bad, they're not going away anytime soon.
Guys, Guys, i agree on some of the matters, but just to pile out CA and Thor is just ridiculous, they should let those series spring, blossom into something, before just saying "lets get these out so we can set up this huge fiasco of a movie. Initiation: these movies need to have at least two or three released before carting them off to Avengers Camp. Thats all, but also it could be good, possibly i am wrong? maybe these guys can pull it off. Joe Johnston or Kenneth may set the tone and lead up so well we dont need any other sequels to lead it up to a climax, but i find its just a step too quick. But Joss Whedon, what a guy, fairly varied status, but i hope he gives it its authenticity and boldness it deserves.
@pjwolsker i may seem wrong, but in the context of what im saying is, it seems all these movies just seem to be made for the initiation of this, but not just made for the soul reason of having a Captain America Film or Thor film but to just lead up to this
@Zak-Lee-Ferguson I get what you're saying, you want more time built up for each character individually before making the transition into a team movie. It's not an invalid objection, one I'd be okay with if that was the route they went with. But, things are happening the way they are, so let's go along for the ride, eh?
@dan1 well its happening, and i admire Whedon completely, he has a small track record, and he is taking it upon himself to do this, and possibly it will be a cinematic orgy.
@Zak-Lee-Ferguson The only problem with what you want is that it would take too much time. If we wait for each character to get two films, then we'd have to wait two to four years from now to even get started on The Avengers. We would need a second Cap, Thor, and Hulk, all at the same time hoping that people don't forget about Iron Man, unless he gets a third movie (which will add even more time). Instead of The Avengers in 2012, it would be 2018 at best. I don't think anyone wants to wait around that long--where comics can afford to take time and cultivate stories thanks to the monthly releases, movies do not have that option. Good films take years to develop, which is what Marvel has done with The Avengers. And we really can't ask them to wait, not when the iron has never been as hot as it is at this moment.
