If you have never seen "You Can Count on Me" then you have missed an amazing film by a unique and masterful artist. Its hard to describe his new film without sounding hyperbolic, but I can't avoid it. Its a masterpiece. Its epic. And not the kind of epic that ironically has little meaning now due to its broad use by all people lacking a vocabulary. It is the true definition of epic. Poetic, immense, tragic, and heroic. I won't try to describe the movie to you, its not what happens, its not even how it happens that matters, rather its how everyone handles it by not handling it that makes it so authentic and honest. People half-listen to each other, formed assumptions make ill-informed conclusions. People lie to themselves more than to each other. If you know the director, then what the movie is about is of little importance. If you don't know him, then describing the story will be of little use in getting you to see this film. I regret a movie like this gets so little attention. It is one of very best movies you are likely to ever see in your lifetime, and that is not hyperbole.
