You see that they gave a modern look to the Die Hard franchise because it's filmed like most modern movies: flashy and with a dark, green/gray filter. Altough i'm familiar with the older movies (nostalgia as they call it), i'm ok with this approach.
The movie is good enough and both groups were happy with it, with both groups i mean the people who grew up with Die hard and second group are the younger ones. I consider myself as a member of the first group.
The action is completely over the top and that's the only option for a Die Hard movie, don't watch it if you expect realism or deepened characters.
Bruce Willis plays John McClane perfectly, and spits out cool jokes and oneliners. "It's Creedence!"
McClane's an analog man in a digital world, and for a movie like this, that's very charming.
The badguy's and their crimes are also modern because they're virtual tourists, love it or hate it. I'm not a big fan of that but you don't have very much time to get annoyed because the action is awesome, and it makes you beg for a 5th movie in the Die Hard-franchise, not?
