Legion is my sort of film, I like anything to do with 'occult' sort of themes or themes that delve into Heaven/Hell. Not that I am deeply religious or anything, just I find the whole thing intriguing. Legion I hoped would be something akin to The Prophecy series of films with Christopher Walken, but alas another let down.

The only redemption for Legion is the fight between Gabriel and Michael, now that I found interesting. Mainly because Gabriel as an angel uses his wings in combat, which I thought was done well. Almost like having another pair of arms at your disposal.

Plot is weak, God gives up on mankind and send his legions to kill us all. In a remote diner/gas station a pregnant woman holds the key to our salvation,. The fight for the survival of the human race has begun .. blah, blah, blah ... does anybody care....

Paul Bettany as Michael I found to be quite refreshing, not specifically known as an action type star I thought he came across well. He was an ideal opposite to Gabriel played by Kevin Durand, they just looked like chalk and cheese. The parts with them both are the only interesting times in the film.

The rest of the cast seemed somewhat superfluous to requirements, the film might have been better if it had focused on the two angels. It has a feel of a zombie type movie, with the survivors making a stand. But it doesn't come off, this sort of thing has already been done to death numerous times. The addition of angels didn't add anything new. Though it might make for an interesting video game.

Lucas Black as 'Jeep' I found particularly annoying, heart of gold simpleton type. Who turns out to be our hero, the sort of guy who has never done anything right in his life, up until this point ... If truth be told he would be the first to go if you know what I mean, probably end up shooting himself by accident or something.

Overall this film had possibilities, but I think it took the wrong track. The battle between the angels was interesting. The whole idea of the legions being sent down to wipe us all out was not a bad idea. But the isolated survivors, woman having a baby and being the salvation of mankind was a little cliché.

Scott Stewart directs and I think he shows promise. Certain parts of the film were well done, it could of just done with a better storyline.
