Oh, I like your outfit too, except when I dress up as a frigid bitch, I try not to look so constipated.

The director of this movie is Robert Luketic, a director that I have to admit I've never even heard of until now, but he DID direct one of my favorite movies, "Monster-In-Law," as well as the more recent movie, "21," which I hear did really good, so he definitely knows what he's doing. This is a little different of a review for me, since everyone's feelings about it are unclear to me, and I can't make my statements to disclude your doubts, but from what I've heard, this movie did respectably as well, and went over great with the general movie-going crowd, so that's definitely a plus. He knows how to direct comedies, that much I do know because "Monster-In-Law" is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Though, I haven't seen "21," so I can't really call it a comedy, since I don't even know what it's about, lolz. So what I'm trying to say, is that the directing of the movie was done well, and by someone that definitely knows what it is that they are doing. There are about two (Techincally three), and they are Karen McCulluh Lutz and Kristen Smith. Do these two sound vaguely familiar to you? Well, they should, seeing as how these are the same two story writers who wrote and brought us "The House Bunny," which is still my all time favorite Chick Flick. lolz. These two do a good job of adapting Amanda Brown's novel, well, I think they did, can't know for sure until I've actually read the book, even if it's not really on my top five must read list at the moment. lolz. So all in all the writers worked really well, and the director was able to create an awesome movie out of it. Which is always good.
The visuals in this story, aren't really the focus of it, but what there is help make it funny. Now, I hate the color pink, but for this storyline it worked very nicely, and EVERYTHING was pink with Elle, I swear. She even ended up getting a freaking pink LAPTOP, but it worked for her I guess. The pink things went really overboard, but in this movie, really overboard was a good thing, so I didn't mind at all. She had pink chairs, and pink shoes, pink bags, the pink laptop I mentioned, and many other things, include a pink, and FLUFFY (Yes, that's right FLUFFY), telephone, which was kind of ridiculous, but whatever. lolz. Aside from all of this, she seemed to be able to work the pink into a smart manner, and make herself look presentable for her classes, which she was entirely lucky to get in. A lot of the women weren't that bad to look at either, so that's a plus. lolz. So though the visuals in the movie are scant and not really anything to pay attention to, unless you notice all the pink, which, how can you not? lolz, the movie does great with them.
The storyline of the movie is original, and I use the term lightly in this review. It's an original concept created by Amanda Brown (The author), and it definitely made for an awesome movie. It's one of those ones that starts out making you think, "Oh for the love of God, will this ever end?!" Well, it'll give you that reaction if you're a guy like I am, but it definitely picks up, and delivers you the laughs. It's your average Blonde looking to prove herself movie, but that never bothers me, as long as they think up new ways for the blonde to prove herself, and this is definitely a new way for me. Last time I checked, very few DUMB blondes have ever gotten into Harvard to try and win a boyfriend back. lolz. Anyway like I said, it's your average "Blonde-trying-to-prove-herself" story, but it's a good one. A prissy sorority leader is dumped by her boyfriend because she isn't smart enough for a Harvard Law student like himself. However, this woman is tired of being told she's not smart, and so she proves herself by getting into Harvard Law, and tries to win him back, but it turns out to be a little harder than she thought. The story, like I said, starts out unbearable, but it definitely picks up the pace bigtime, and becomes an awesome and hilarious movie, that I'm sure anyone would enjoy. I mean come on, Vampire2000 (Man of the horror movies and hater of all things PINK) liked it, you should, too!!!!! LOLZ!!!!!
Starring in the lead of this movie as Elle Woods, is of course Reese Witherspoon, as many know. Elle Woods seems to have everything she could have wanted. She's rich, and everyone loves her. She's the leader of a very prestigious sorority, and everyone loves her. She's got the perfect boyfriend, and everyone loves her. However, all of this crashes when her boyfriend dumps her because she is not smart enough. She falls into a depression, but soon realizes what it is that her boyfriend, Warner, wanted, and that is a smart, law student. So immediately Elle finds out how she's going to get into Harvard, and gets to work. She studies and studies and studies and studies and studies, and when she takes the exam that she needs to get into the school, she scores above the average that Harvard is looking for. Soon she finds herself accepted and entering Harvard. However, what she finds is that not everyone there likes her, in fact, it's quite the contrary. No one likes her, and she soon realizes that Warner, the love of her life, has engaged someone, someone who is a complete bitch, and that would be Vivian. Soon, Elle breaksdown again, and heads for a mani-peti, and meets a nice woman named Paulette, and they become good friends, and Elle starts to work on stealing Warner back. Soon, she's seen as a smart woman, and is taken SEMI-seriously, even being brought on as a first year in an expanssive murder trial. What she finds is that one of her friends is on the stand for murder, but she knows better than that because she knew the woman, and the woman would never do that. So she gets an alibi that could save Brooke, but she promises not to tell and ruin Brooke's reputation. She continues to do as she's told, and fights furiously, along side a new friend of hers, named Emmett. Reese Witherspoon is an actress that I know by name, but haven't seen in a lot of movies, but in this one she does exceptionally, and delivers an awesome performance. She really plays this prissy stuck-uppish character very well, and makes it her own. I'm positive that there is no other actress who could play this role, and so Reese Witherspoon definitely does a good job, delivering us a performance that is both convincing and believable, as well as one you can feel for, and even relate to at points. She was definitely a great casting choice for this role.
Selma Blair, whom many know from "Hellboy" and "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" as Liz Sherman, the firestarter, stars in this movie as Elle Woods' rival, Vivian. Vivian is a Harvard Law student like Elle and Warner, but what she's got that Elle doesn't have is brains, and Warner. That's right, Vivian is engaged to Warner, much to Elle's surprise. Vivian does not like Elle at all from the moment she set eyes on her, and immediately begins to set against her, and tries to ruin her and all that other bitchy stuff that women like to do to other women whom they don't like at all. One of the pranks that Vivian pulls on Elle, is inviting her to a campus party, and telling her that it's a costume party, but when Elle shows up dressed as a Playboy bunny, she is vastly embarrassed to find that she is the only one at the party that is wearing a costume, but she immediately brushes it aside, and walks astride with an air of questioning malice of sorts. She proves herself to not be taken lightly, and this annoys Vivian further. However, soon Vivian, Warner, and Elle are all chosen to join their teacher, Professor Callahan, at his law firm to help solve a Murder trial, and Vivian hears Elle refuse to tell her friend's secret alibi, and she begins to think that Elle is not as bad as she thinks, but she is on a very thin wire to Vivian, and they try and become friends. One of those I'll-be-nice-but-I-still-hate-you characters. Selma Blair has been a favorite of mine ever since I saw her in "Hellboy" as Liz Sherman, and it was pissing me off that I couldn't remember what I'd seen her in before as I was watching this movie. Oh, I was going insane. lolz. Anyway, she does great in this movie at playing the stuck up prissy bitch who has to ruin other people to make herself look good, and win another girls man. She really delivers her performance well, and makes the character both convincing and believable, as well as making it a character that some can relate to (If you're a prissy, stuck-up bitch, that is), and feel for (if you empathize stuck-uppishness. lolz). She was definitely another great casting choice for this movie.
Starring in this movie as Emmett, the friend who takes it upon himself to help Elle out at Harvard Law School, is an actor whom I never knew was in this movie, and that is Luke Wilson, one of my favorite actors. Emmett is sitting on a park bench when he meets Elle for the first time, she storms out onto the courtyard and plops down onto a bench in a furiously angry manner, and he asks what's wrong. She explains that one of the teachers was evil, as well as one of the students, and Emmett tells her that that's just the way it is at Harvard Law, if you're not like everyone else, you're an outcast, and if you don't know the teachers' normal ways of teaching than you're screwed as far as classes go. However, Emmett teaches Elle what teachers are used to what, and how to get on their good side. Soon he and Elle become friends, over the span of the whole movie. What we also find out, is that Emmett is a third year, who works for Professor Callahan's firm, as kind of an assistant/attorney, and when the murder trial begins, they all work together, and he tries to get Elle to tell Brooke Windham's alibi, so that they can solve the murder case, but she holds resilient, and he respects her for that. Soon, they both realize that they are falling in love with each other. Luke Wilson, as I've said, is one of my favorite actors, and I had no idea that he was in this movie, so that was definitely a nice surprise for me, to see him in it. He does an exceptional job in his role as Emmett, and plays the general nice guy, who just wants to make people feel good, be happy, as well as do the right thing for them. He definitely knows how to play this type of character, and he does it well. He delivers us a performance that is both incredibly and undoubtedly convincing, as well as incredibly and undoubtedly believable, and makes a character that you can relate to (If you're a people pleasing nice person/guy/girl.) as well as feel for (if you empathize the position that his job and his boss put him in with all the matters that he goes through in the movie.). He was definitely yet another great casting choice for the movie.
One of my favorite actresses, Ali Larter, whom I had no idea was in this either, stars in this movie as Brooke Taylor Windham, the woman on trial for the murder of her husband. When Brooke Taylor Windham is introduced into this story, she is in the normal orange jumpsuit worn by prisoners, and she seems to be extremely, and utterly, pissed at the fact that she's being cross-examined by her lawyers, and thinks that they don't believe her. She can't stand that her own lawyers, who she pays, don't even trust her, and so she is resilient in her bitchiness. She constantly says that she HAS an alibi, but she cannot tell them, and that's what makes everyone so untrustworthy, but she can't help it. If she told her alibi, it would ruin her entire reputation. That's when she recognizes one of her lawyers from an aerobics class that she's famous for teaching, and Brooke remembers that Elle was one of her best students in that class, and she trusts Elle above all others on the case, and even gives Elle her alibi, but swears her to secrecy, and she's incredibly happy that Elle keeps this secret, as well as she is incredibly happy that Elle thinks and believes that she is innocent. She trusts Elle, and only Elle in this case, and is constantly pissed off and annoyed with the lead Lawyer, Callahan, who is also Elle's Professor at Harvard Law. Ali Larter, as I stated, is one of my all time favorite actresses. She got this spot ever since I saw her as Claire Redfield in "Resident Evil: Extinction" and I was all blown away when I saw her name in the beginning credits because like Luke Wilson, I had no idea that she was in this movie. It was an awesome and pleasant surprise, and she became my favorite character in the movie! She did great at playing this confident lady, who knows that she did right, and has some trust in a best friend, and makes this character who she is, and makes it even more awesome. She also plays out Brooke Taylor Windham's worries, confidence and all the other range of emotions in the woman very well, and make the character completely and totally convincing, as well as completely and totally believable, and makes Brooke Taylor Windham a character that you can really relate to and even feel for, having lost the man she loved above all else. She was yet ANOTHER great casting choice for this movie.
Jennifer Coolidge, one of my favorite actresses believe it or not, stars in this movie as a manicurist named Paulette. Paulette is just a normal woman who works at a Manicure shop, when one day she meets a girl who changes her life, pretty much. She was in a marriage with a man whom she loved, and whom she thought loved her in return, for eight years, until BAM! One day he dumps her, and kicks her out, even taking her beloved dog. When Elle shows up, and tells of her worries, she feels sorry for her, and even tells her her own story. That's when Elle and her become huge friends, and Paulette does everything to give advice to her, and there's a lot. Elle helps Paulette one day by taking her to her old trailer, and accosting her ex-husband, and pretending to be her lawyer, got Paulette's beloved dog back. Elle also teaches Paulette to get the attention of the delivery man, whom she really loves, and even ends up accidentally breaking his nose in a very funny scene. I don't know why, but Jennifer Coolidge never fails to make me laugh in movies, and my favorite role of hers is as The White Bitch in "Epic Movie." She does great in this movie, playing the ditzy, but friendly, woman who just wants to help people, KIND OF like Luke Wilson's character in it. She portrays the character's emotions, feelings, and niceness very well, and makes the character her own, and I really enjoyed watching this character be all ditzy and stuff. lolz. She really delivers a convincing and believable performance, as well as making the character one you can feel for (Because of how things seem to keep going wrong for her, and she can't seem to catch a break), and even relate to (if you've ever been in a BAD divorce.). She was definitely ANOTHER GREAT casting choice for this movie, they seemed to know what they were doing when they cast this movie, it seems.
All in all this one hilarious movie, and another good Chick Flick that I'm PROUD TO HAVE IN MY COLLECTION!!!!! HAHA!!!!! Anyway, this movies directing was done by someone who definitely knows what they're doing when making a comedy movie, and does it well because this was just hilarious, and I loved his vision for it. It was incredibly unique. The writers of this movie, I THINK, did a good job of turning the book into a movie, but I don't know, since I haven't read the book yet, lolz. Anyway, they do a good job of turning this original storyline into an awesome and hilarious movie, that we can all enjoy, even the Chick-Flick haters loved this one. It was definitely a good movie on the writer/director side of the movie. The visuals in this movie are not a main focus, but are all also done very well, the massive amounts of Pink are helpful to the movie's storyline, and help make it even funnier, which is a good thing. The storyline, as I've said is an original idea, just not an original idea for the DIRECTOR, lolz. It's a great story that keeps you interested, even if the beginning was a little unbearable. It's definitely a funny story/movie, and one that you can't help but laugh at, since it's so funny. The acting in the movie is done exceptionally by everyone who was in it, and make the movie what it is. They all deliver performacnes that are both completely, utterly, and definitely convincing, as well as completely, utterly, and definitely believable. They deliver performances that you can DEFINITELY feel for all of the characters (Depending on which situation it is.), and even relate to most of them (Depending on the situation, as well.), and everyone was definitely a great casting choice for the movie. This was definitely one hell of a funny and awesome Chick-Flick, and I'm definitely proud to say that I own it, even if the case is PINK because it was a great and hilarious movie!!!!!
