I've been waiting for this movie to come out ever since I first saw the trailer. I'm a big Samuel L. Jackson fan, and the movie did not dissapoint me.

Jackson plays Abel Turner, a Los Angeles Policeman raising 2 kids in an upper-class suburb. We get a bit of a glimpse of his personality through his kids, who feel he has too many rules, but what kid doesn't?

As Abel (Jackson) is outside watering, he sees that a young mixed race couple are moving in to the house next door. You can tell he is less than thrilled.

The couple are Chris (Patrick Washington; Hard Candy), and Lisa (Kerry Washington; Fantastic Four), excitedly moving into their first home. Chris' first encouter that leaves him wondering about his neighbor is when he goes over to ask him to turn off one of the outside security lights that happens to be shining right into their bedroom window. Abel is not rude or mean, but you can sense an underlying current of anger and sarcasm. Where that stems from, you have to watch the movie and see.

The basic storyline has been done in the past, but making a character a cop adds an interesting twist to the helplessness the couple feels. In addition, the couple have some marital differences between them that Abel catches onto and takes advantage of to further his agenda.

As Chris and Lisa's dilemna with Abel increases, the director added an environmental threat - a fire that is rapidly spreading to the neighborhood. It all comes together to a dramatic climax at the end.

Fans of Hostel will see Jay Hernandez, who plays one of Abel's cop friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and felt that Jackson did a fantastic job using his acting experience to pull off the character's whacked attitude. He could convey a feeling just by his facial expressions. It was enough to give me goosebumps. This movie is definitely worth seeing!
