Extra Data for data-hungry filmgoers:
If you haven't read the book, then do it! You'll notice that it's more techy, while the film is not, which may be good or bad depending on what you like.
Jeff Goldblum, Martin Ferraro, and Wayne Knight do a great job at bringing in the comedy to this movie, and who can forget Nedry's quote I mentioned as my overall quote?
While Alan Grant and Dennis Nedry are different than their novelized versions, Sam Neil and Wayne Knight are spectacular, in what is one of their best performance's ever!!! Same with Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough.
Bob Peck's performance as the Raptor hunter/game expert is great, as is his huntin' style!
Stan Winston has always been the guy to go to when it comes to creature movies, as it was he who saved the production of "Predator" by designing the alien hunter at the last second before production would be shut down. Bottom line: Stan's your man! And his 9,000lb Rex would attest to that too!
Dennis Muren's work with the CG Dinosaurs prove to be his best stuff since "Star Wars" in what many fans cite as the best dinosaur movie ever! Even real dino guy Jack Horner says to go see this movie for a look at what real dinos looked like instead of a trip to his own museum!
The story is essentially what pulled off this film's box office record breaking success. Had it just been cool dinosaurs running around then it wouldn't be remembered (considering how far we've come in digital technology). Though as it turns out, Stan Winston's dinosaurs to this day still stand out as the most realistic ever.
The only thing I missed from this film that was in the novel, was Ian Malcom's constant configurations and complexes that cover nearly every chapter in the book. And Spielberg leaves his trademark by adding and changing events to make it more of his movie, in that he added the heroic final appearance of the Rex, and changed Hammond from being a greedy evil man that got his comeuppance, to being a kind man interested by his talent with creating dinosaurs.
All in all, it's the story, as well as the memorable scenes and characters that made this movie one of the greatest of all time.

Definitely the quintessential 1990's film.
