Seeing as how this is one of the biggest movies of all time, it would surprise me to find any person registered on a site called 'MovieWeb' who hasn't seen this movie. If you are that rarity, forgive me for skipping over the needless plot summary.
Let me start with the visuals. Even to this day, over 15 years later, the special effects are flawlessly remarkable. The dinosaurs are terrifyingly realistic and at times awe-inspiring. One of the best things with the effects is that the dinos seem to have true mass to their bodies. Too often, special effects create large creatures that are far too limber for their own good (*cough* Godzilla remake). These dinosaurs are believable and enchanting.
Now before I start drooling over the special effects, misleading you into believing that that is what makes this movie great, I should move onto the noticeably superior directorial style. Steven Spielberg helms this project with acute precision. Each thrill is executed perfectly. Each action sequence is framed fantastically. Each musical piece is applied thrillingly. His fingerprints are all over the movie (which in his case is definitely a good thing).
The great thing about dinosaurs, especially the realism of these ones, is that they make anyone feel like a kid. The movie belittles its audience not derogatorily, but instead in genuine likability. Jurassic Park is the most intensely childish picture I will probably ever see, and it has an uncanny ability to give me an irresistible happiness.
Jurassic Park is a timeless adventure that manages to capture the adventurous spirit of Michael Crichton's original work. This is a whole lot of fun for movie 'fans' and movie 'critics' alike. It appealed to both of those sides within me.

Ah yes. This was my favorite film for a time, as a kid. I would give this a 4.5 too. Awesome review, my friend! :)
