Juno: Review By Moviejunkie4

Every year has a movie that's the " Little film that could". 2008 was Slumdog Millionaire, 2006 was Little Miss Sunshine and 2007's was Juno.

Juno, directed by Jason Reitman (Thank You for Smoking)is smart, witty, and charming - the three componets that make up the recipe of success. The screenplay does just enough and not too much and ends with the perfect ending. Of all the comedies out there that focus on pregnancy. Juno is my top favorite.

Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page) is pregnant and only sixteen years of age. She takes three home pregnancy tests to be sure, but the results all come the same. Paulie (Michael Cera), her boyfriend, is perplexed by the news just like her. At first, Juno considers an abortion, but after after revealing the truth to her supportive father (J.K. Simmons) and stepmother (Allison Janney), she decides to look in the penny saver to try to find the right parents for her unborn child. Enter Vanessa (Jennifer Garner) and Mark (Jason Bateman)" The perfect couple". They're ready to adopt or at least Vanessa is. Mark, on the other hand, is more interested in watching old horror films and likes to discuss music with Juno.

Juno isn't one of those "laugh-out-loud rolling on the floor riots" it's funny in a impudent way. with the kind of humor that causes a lot of chuckles with the occasional big laugh here or there. The screenplay is near perfection. With everything that Juno says whether it's dialogue that comes out of her mouth or her thoughts expressed in voiceover, it's all interesting and worth listening to.

Ellen Page as the lead actress deserves as much praise as either director Reitman and his collaborator Diablo Cody (the stripper-turned-screenwriter/Academy Award winner). With her fanicating performance in 2006's Hard Candy and now Juno under her belt, she proves that she's now someone to watch for. her Best Actress nomination for her role here was not by pure chance. She gets great support from a strong cast.

Michael Cera (Superbad) creates a genuine portrayal of the shy guy who you don't see alot of in teen movies.

J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney are the parents that every pregnant girl would pray to have. Jennifer Garner is great and not at all like I've seen her as. Also Jason Bateman portrays one the few characters that I actually like him being.
