The Law is Plastic
Directed by: Danny Canon
Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Diane Lane, Armand Assante, Max Von Sydow and Rob Schneider.
As kid growing up, when you see a movie like this ,you see your favorite actors as larger than life characters. When you see it as an adult, you can't help but laugh at how blind your innocence was. The action was only good and cool looking when Dredd voice commands his weapon and when he squares off with his inbreeded brother played by Armand Assante. Diane Lane is young, slender and gorgeous in a uniform. Rob Schneider? Simply Rob Schneider. The jester of the movie. When has he ever played differently? Max Von Sydow is the only veteran actor in this movie and though his role was short lived, makes his character look normal. As for Stallone? He could not have screamed "I AM THE LAW" any louder or look anymore ridiculous in a party city costume. You can't blame them for being too "comic book-y" in a time where adaptations were done page for page.
Overall, a classic for me back in the day but a waste now.
