I had high doubts for this, for a few reasons.
1. It's straight to DVD.
2. No known actors.
3. The guy who worked at Blockbuster said it was terrible.
Well, they are all wrong. Yes, it's straight to DVD, but it is still great. In fact out of all of the straight to DVD films, this is the best so far this year! But that's not saying much. Just because there are no big names, doesn't mean a movie is crap. I know that, but it sure helps to have at least someone who's name I would know, which this has none of, but it is still good! That guy who worked at Blockbuster is nice, but he was wrong on this!
The story is one that I think is pretty awesome, not to mention intense and fast paced. A car full of teens breaks down in the desert on the way to Vegas. They go looking for civilization, and find a house that they think is abandoned... hehe. It isn't. They go to the "abandoned" house's garage and find a car. They take it, and leave a note with their phone number, JUST IN CASE it isn't abandoned. Well they don't get too far before they get a call from the owner of the house. Did I mention he is a psychotic truck driver who tortures them and harrasses them to a large extreme, making them do things to each other, and just stuff that amuses him? Yup, he is. Well I think that's a good plot, don't ya think. Ok, maybe it's unrealistic that someone would actually steal a car, but hey, they think the people are gone.
The acting is definitely not cheesey and is actually pretty decent, but nothing really noteworthy. But in the opening scene there is one terrible actress. Just ignore her. *spoiler* Don't worry she dies, so you don't have to put up with her for long.
The director is Louis Morneau. This is his first and last movie. Which is a surprise, because he does a good job on this. I like how they never show the truck driver's face. I thought that made it all the more creepy. Plus how they presented the whole movie is neat. I find this type of stuff hard to explain, but you might know what I mean. If not, you'll have to see the movie.
Overall, a decent flick that I recommend. Ok, I will admit there were a few things that TOTALLY COULD NOT HAPPEN. Or just a few things that make you angary, because it's unrealistic, but overall a decent film. Maybe more like a 3.9, but I can't give it that rating, so I rounded up.

yes, JR some cool deaths. the psychotic truck driver captures 2 of the people, then makes them play a game where you roll dice. whatever number it lands on, depends on how you gt hurt.
2= hit in the kneecap
7= safe
and i forget which number mean death. haha
thanks everyone like ed, and psycho

Love the review. I just rented it and plan to watch it tomorrow. Though... I saw the first one and the premise sounds much more feasible and better. You definitely need to see the first one.... and that one has known actors (Paul Walker, Steve Zahn, and Leelee Sobeiski)
