Folks, I came across this program called JCopia, that seems to do just the trick. It is an actual stream grabber, so no encoding of the display. Works like a charm on a non-standard site I visited, that has a video that was deployed through a custom flash front-end. I was surprisingly impressed. The software even has a free-trial period. May it be of use to some of you guys too.
