But, that is okay, as it immediately delves into the creation of the MK I, II and III.
Robert Downey Jr. is a perfect casting, but his talent is not used to its potential. The well known baggage that he does bring to the role, however, does allow the director to move quickly certain aspect with only subtle hints to Tony Stark's flaws. It works on so many levels.
However, with both the actors and director hinting at plot points for the sequel, it seems as if that will sate fanboys' desires in the coming years.
As for other aspects?
Gwyneth Paltrow was convincing. This reviewer was concerned about her overacting in the role. But, she proved to be a perfect chameleon as Pepper Potts. Disappearing into the background on scenes where she needed to be, etc.
"The Dude" convinced! He was a surprise casting and the performance was satisfying and seemed natural to the aspects of Obadiah Stane's character.
The visual aspect of this film was clean and amazing. Watching Iron Man go after his former captors was probably cooler than the final battle.
So, was it a great film? Nah (it is good, though), but it is a great film to start off the summer with. Will it be remembered? Yep, it is a jumping off point for the Marvel Universe as it moves into live action, big budget movies.
I plan on seeing it again.
Oh, and stay through the credits. For fanboys its a must. For others it is fun and kicks open the door to the Marvel Universe.
