Morgan Freeman plays Nelson Mandela, the president of South Africa in the 1990's. Co-starring Matt Damon who plays François Pienaar, the captain of South Africa's Rugby team.

The movie opens with the public's reactions to the release of Nelson Mandela, who was imprisoned for protesting the apart-tide from whites and other races. There is much footage to support the difference between how each race lived in that time. But Nelson Mandela becomes elected and makes the number one priority to end segregation.

With the country still having a hard time accepting equality with people who had treated them so badly in the past, Nelson Mandela decides that the country needs an inspiration to bring it back onto it's feet. This relates Matt Damon's character into the story. Nelson Mandela asks François Pienaar to win the world cup for his country. This was hardly seen as possible by François or his team because of their reputation to do terribly in the world cup.

I watched this movie with almost no knowledge of the story of Nelson Mandela, but this movie filled in the gaps quite a bit. The viewer gets an education and feel for what it was like back then, and when a movie can make you on your couch feel like that; You know they did something right when making it.

It is hard to critique the storyline when a movie is completely based off of true events. It isn't always as linear as a written story can be. Regardless this story is one that should be heard in home across North America. This is the kind of film that you cant help but have a huge smile on your face after seeing; Because you just love the character's and the climax so much.

With two big names on the front of this cover, the acting did not seize to amaze me. Morgan Freeman was actually Nelson Mandela's choice to play him in the movie; Nicely chosen if I do say so. Matt Damon did a great job as well, aside from a sketchy accent. The character's were all beautifully played, right down to the body guard's in the presidential house.

I have to correct myself, there is three big names on the cover of this movie. Director Clint Eastwood, I have nothing but praises to sing to with how fluently each scene was able to connect.

In conclusion, I would recommend this movie for a family evening, as you will learn a little bit of history and still love every moment of it.
