'Into the Wild' is about a young college graduate named Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch) leaves everything behind and gives up a $24,000 savings account for a different college for a journey to his great Alaskan adventure. Chris has such a rough life growing up with his parents from how abusive and awful they acted toward each other in certain fights. The only member of his family that he cares most about is his sister Carine McCandless (Jena Malone). Carine sometimes narrates the story about Christopher during the film, which I appreciated greatly for narration to this film. As Christopher travels all over the country to Alaska he meets many characters that he becomes friends with.
Marcia Gay Harden plays the role of Christopher's mother, Billie McCandless and William Hurt plays the role of Christopher's father, Walt McCandless. Harden gives a great supporting performance for her role in the film which not only she's the best actress of the film, but this is also one of her best supporting performances in her career. First time actor William Hurt gives a well-talented supporting performance himself, but he's not as well-talented as some of the other supporting actors starring in this film.
Other supporting actors and actress bringing short and skillful supporting roles are Vince Vaughn, Catherine Keener, and Kristen Stewart. All bring fine short performances for their roles.
This movie is a beautiful and stunning experience that must be seen. From looking at the splendor side of nature from the snowy Alaskan mountains to the rapid dashing tides of rivers and to the high-cliff sands shining under the sun made me realize that there is also a pretty side to nature and a peaceful side to the wild. What you will see in this film will blow your mind keeping you entertained out of your seat. You will not be bored by 'Into the Wild'!
From how entertaining this film is with its usage of the dazzling side of nature and the wild is what I call 'Into the Wild' high-class stunning entertainment! 'Into the Wild' is one of the most entertaining movies that I have ever seen! It's a movie that you do not what to miss. One of those movies you must see before you die.
This movie was nominated two Oscars for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role by Hal Holbrook and Best Achievement in Editing. This should have been nominated for two other Oscars for Best Picture of 2007 and Best Director. Quite aggravating that it wasn't at least nominated, but anyways.
'Into the Wild' is beautiful, entertaining, remarkable and spectacular movie viewing that nature and the wild isn't all that bad. This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I don't know about it being on my top 10 list, but it's a great movie. Good storytelling, fine performances and eye-catching visauls of nature.
