Like everyone else on the face of the earth, I have been pumped up for "INCEPTION" since the news of it was given out. The reason I think "INCEPTION" is so wonderful because it gives us moviebuffs in this world a challenge. "Inception" is like a very difficult video-game, you have to use your brain to understand it and learn how it works. This is the reason why "Inception" may just be one of my new favorite films. The movie is original too and its nice to have something so unique like this. I'm proud to say that I'll be seeing this movie again during the week. This movie is well worth the money a second time around. Every minute of the film I valued. Not once did I glimmer over to my buddy and say "Damn, this is dragging on.". Not with "Inception". If anything, this movie wasn't long enough. I wanted it to continue! As of this moment, "Inception" now stands as one of my most favored films. See it. You won't regret it.

DIRECTION:

Chris Nolan proves that he is one of the best film-makers of our time. With incredible movies such as "Memento", "The Dark Knight", " The Prestige" and even "Batman Begins". All his movies are masterpeices...but "Inception", "Inception" is something different. "Inception" is a work of art. I think its safe to say that "Inception" will be rememberd forever. Nolan creates this wonderful story and shares it with our world. His way of direction is crafted beatifully. Nolan [as I already said] PROVES he is one fine director. Bravo to you, Nolan..., Bravo.

VISUALS:

I was amazed by the film's visual effects. "Wow" was the word I used, I think. Seeing this movie in IMAX will blow you away. Literally. The look of "Inception" is awesome, and even if you can't understand the film, its just fun to watch because of the way it looks.

ACTING:

An all-star cast leads "Inception" to victory. Lets see who we got here: Leonardo Dicaprio, Joseph Gorden Levett, Ellen Page, Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy. With a fine cast like that, I think its enough to see "Inception" just for that! Well, Leonardo plays Cobb. I won't reveal anything. I'll just say that Cobb was a pretty awesome, likeable character and Leonardo was spot-on! Joseph Gorden Levett plays Arthur. Arthur is another likeable character. He's that cool character that doesn't have much of a personality but is still loved by everyone. As for Levett, he was very shocking. He fit the role perfectly. I can't imagine anyone else. He did great! Ellen Page plays Ariadne, the Architect. She did wonderful in her role, as always. She's a great actress. Cillian Murphy plays Fischer. As always, Murphy surprises me and makes me wonder why he isn't as big as he should be. Michael Caine, who really wasn't in enough, did great. As for the acting, it was well-on. Spot-on. Oh, and don't forget Marion Cotillard, who plays Mal: probably one of the best characters in cinema in a very long time. She was so awesome and pretty damn creative. I loved her and Cobb's back-story. Through-out the movie I found myself gripping onto my seat whenever she was in a scene. The depth of her character was just so, so....perfect. But, of course, the greatness of her character has to do with Cotillard's performence as well. She was wonderful, as usual.

STORY:

"INCEPTION" is about a man who does whatever possible to score on his last job. It means everything to him. If succeded, it could mean getting his kids and life back. Instead of stealing an idea, Cobb and his team are in complete reverse: they must plant one. With an enemy Cobb hates to face and a job said to be impossible, "Inception" could be known as one find adventure. The story is confusing and like a difficult puzzle, but thats the beauty in this movie, isn't it? The challenge.

[SPOILERS]

[Maybe, just mabe, the explanation to the film itself]

What I believe is that Cobb was suffering from limbo trough-out the entire movie. The beginning scene, with Cobb and Saito, is shown twice in the film. Why? Well, what I believe is Saito and Cobb were under limbo trough-out. How could Saito stop Cobb's murder-charges with just one phone call? Well, I think Cobb only believed this and it was possible is because he was in dream-state the entire time. Like in Mombasa, where Cobb is being chased by those annoymous agents and runs trough the dream-like narrow tunnel and is saved by Saito. Later, Saito and Cobb meet with Yusof who brings them into a basement with a few people connected to the dream machine. he idea was for Cobb to experiment with the deep sedative. When he "wakes-up", he tries to use his totem but is interupted by Saito. The totem falls and Cobb never learns if he is in reality or the dream-world. Well, he isn't. Cobb, deep in limbo, unknowingly uses the projections of his team to keep going deeper and deeper until the idea of inception is performed on his mind, and he truly believes he was able to find a way back home. Saito's promise to Cobb was kept - in the form of Saito (a projection from Cobb) making sure that Cobb ended up in limbo, so that he could live his "life" with his kids (who are in the same position as they were all throughout the film). The team were projections.

Believe me, I did not figure this all out on my own. And I honestly can't speak for Nolan weater this is true or not. Its just a theory me and a few friends came up with. Thats all...

I will definitly be seeing "Inception" again. This is the type of film where you pick up more and more peices to the puzzle each time you veiw it.

OVERALL:

INCEPTION is a wonderful ride you'll wanna wait in line for again right after you finish it. Its that wondeful. You'll want it to continue, and be sad when it ends. I was. Thank God I'm seeing it again tommorow! If you haven't seen "Incpeption" and don't plan to, well your outta your damn mind. See it, you won't regret it one bit.

With an incredible story, fine direction, great character development, and awesome visual effects, "Inception" can quickly resolve into something great.

....this may just be one of my new favorite films.

Thanks for reading!

There are so many things left unturned and questions that will rally more viewers and critiques to delve more into the film's origin and story.

Your review was substantial and very insightful! Nice one! Kudos even to the end notes (not everyone does that)

  9. The Narrator: The Better Man

    @Diaigma, @Sly, and @Screenwriter:
I too have been here since late 2007, and have been a substantial poster and reviewer like some of you have. Granted my earlier reviews were poor and short as some of yours were, and some of my newer reviews still need some fixing when it comes to typos here and there. Other than that, I think I have what it takes to be a reviewer as do you guys.. However, I think MW has more than enough officials on the site, and I doubt that they need any more. The dvd reviews have better formatting, and are broken down better, and if what you say is true about being able to edit reviews after the time limit... well I wouldn't mind that in the least. Overall, it is not significant as I am more than happy like this, but it would help my reviews if I was able to be an official

@Sly, if Brian has that power, then I am honestly surprised that he hasn't given me the boot yet. I know I've pissed him off at times due to him boycotting the superhero genre, with no excuse than the fact that they are too often released, and all follow the same origin type movie. So if that be the case, I doubt that I will become a reviewer any time soon. :P Oh well, doesn't matter.

P.S. Totally agree with @diaigma on the whole Social Network thing. It's bound to rake in some noms, and no doubt it'll deserve them.

Although, if there anything else I wanna see this summer, its probably "Dinner for Shmucks" and thats only because the comedy genius Steve Carell is in it. Other than that....eh.

I agree with theREALavatar in that I too could careless what the upper guys think of my opinions. Us in our tight circles are good enough. Afterall, we each derive at least an hour's worth of joy from reading and commenting on each other's reviews an opinions each day. And given how isolated I am right now during this less than amusing summer, then this is all I need.

    lmao, Slysnide.

Its whatever. I mean, I'm gonna keep on doing what I do here and if one day, maybe, I become an Official, that'll be cool. If not, I'll never stop using this site. Although, I liked the old layout a lot better. lol.

I've gotten some perks that Officials get without being one. Brian really liked my review of "The Hurt Locker" and then I was suddenly able to type those decked out versions of DVD reviews with the animated bars and such, yet I wasn't official, thus suggesting that the MoviewebTeam has the ability to make one Official, but Brian whose been here from the start can still grant perks to those he thinks deserves them....or something like that. For I've read completely spoiler based reviews that were truly not a real review in any sense of the word, and yet it would be made official. They weren't necessarily the first reviews of said films posted, as any one film can have numerous official stamps on the reviews for said film. So idk how it works. Frankly it just confuses me talking about it and I'm just currently realizing as I'm typing this that it's a waste of my time to continue typing on it so I guess I shou-- ;)

It doesn't make a difference to me whether my reviews are official or not on here. Not to root my own horn (well okay, maybe a little), but the people that know me on here know I do reviews with insight and substance. I see no point in doing a review unless you're going to dive into the material and really talk about it.

The kids that post on here with the "OMG, I JUST JIZZED IN MY PANTS, NOLAN IS GOD" are the detriment and antithesis of those of us who want something serious to read. Movies are an art form, and should be treated as such.

Yea. lol. I've been using this site since 2007. I was formally known as CARNAGE and then in 2008, I lost the password, so I created my SCREENWRITER. I've been reviewing here for a while. But, yea, my earlier reviews were garbage too and I wish I could delete them. But, yea, I wish I was an Official. I mean, there's users on here who've only been members for less than a year and are already Officials.

My early reviews are garbage. I only had the chance to edit my second review to my standards, which was "Zodiac" back in April '08 when I first started reviewing here, having joined in February of that year. Early in '09 was when I was temporarily able to edit any and all reviews I'd written, but I'd only gotten to that one for whatever reason. Furthermore, I could swear I edited my three 'Jurassic Park' reviews, but they've since reverted to their original pathetic state, that is, if I ever touched them up. I had once tried to review all 5 Dirty Harry films via the DVD Collection, but obviously couldn't write all five, and sum up the DVD in the same review in one sitting, but since I was at the time able to edit reviews at my leisure, I posted it for all to see my opinion on the original film. When I returned in the morning to continue writing, the abilty was gone, and now my Dirty Harry Anthology DVD Collection only reviews the first film in a haphazard theatrical way. Haphazard because one never reviews a film as they normally would if they're doing so through a DVD review. Though on a side note, many mistake my DVD ratings for my rating on the film iteself, whereas I was averaging the replay value, with the film itself, and the extras. lolz.

You've been asking? Me too. I haven't a clue how that process works, but I'd think us "superusers" with our X+ years of interacting on here and having written serious reviews would have granted us that trust by now? Idk : /

Uhhh, idk. I've been asking MW how to become one. But, that'd be awesome! But, it may have been updating its time on the review page because I edited my review twice already and each time the time the review was posted changed. But, who knows....

    2 years agoby @the-screenwriterFlag

  23. Diaigma

Glitch in the system is my guess?

    2 years agoby @diaigmaFlag

  24. slysnide

That's strange, because according to the review page for this film, yours is the latest, and is slated at having been posted today, but I know that's not true as others posted before 9PM. I'm on the Pacific Coast, so any comments or reviews I post after that time is slated as having been posted in the early morning hours of the next day, which means that this site is probably east coast based. Either way, I guess you can edit your reviews later now, and apparently, if you do, the date in which you posted it changes too. Odd.

Are you an Official Reviewer? Vampire2000 doesn't have any restraints which either Brian or the MoviewebTeam said was due to the fact that V2K was an Official Reviewer, or in other words, had one or more reviews given the 'Official' Red Stamp which reads: "OFFICIAL REVIEW."

    [Spoilers alert]

Nice theory. Makes sense when you put it that way. She put faith in him when she layed down on the tracks so she though that'd he put faith in her when she jumped from the ledge.

But still, none of us can actually ever solve this movie complety. Nolan set it up that way...to imagine it the way we want to.

    *******SPOILER ALERT*********

I agree that he is still in an unknown level of dream scape at the end of the film, but my theory on the "why" and "message" of the film differ...this is a love story, period. Its key theme is true love pushing us to leaps of faith, a chance that Cobb's wife and love was willing to take, completely putting her faith in Cobb when she put her head on the track. After waking up she knew they were still dreaming, she asked Cobb no less than what he insisted of her...to trust her, to take a leap of faith...he wouldn't do it. Love, heartbreak, and loss...all magnificently put into a grand perspective. Amazing film.

haha. I'm seeing it number three tommorow. Then [since nothing else that catches my eye comes out this summer] I might just see it with my cousin at some point next week too. The thing with this movie is you can watch it over and over and catch more little things each time. Its like watching the entire series of "Lost" the second time trough. You catch little things that help you understand things further into the series. If you think about it..."Lost" and "Inception" are both similar the way they were set up. Set up to make our brains catch new things each time we view it. Thats the amazment in them!!!!!
