INCEPTION is the most original film i've seen in a very long time. sure, it borrows from many films like the matrix and from what i've hear, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind ( which i've sadly never seen) but the key word there is, borrowed. it doesn't rip off like most films today do. INCEPTION is about,well.....um..........leonardo dicaprio? this is a film that is very hard to explain, but i gurantee you, when you see the film, it all makes sense. i'll try my best. well, leonardo and his rag tag team of mind bandits steal secrets and important information on people through their dreams. one of their employers, Saito ( played by Ken Watanabe) hires them to perform something called INCEPTION which is the planting of an idea in someone's mind. They are hired to plant the idea of destroying his dying fathers empire in Cillian Murphy's mind. To do this they need to go through layers and layers of dreaming to put this idea into his head. The Acting is phenomenal, the visuals are beautiful, it's almost a perfect film. what is the problem with it? the runtime? No. although, it seemed extremley long, it never really bothered me. the problem is the last three seconds. SPOILERS AHEAD---

The problem is the ending, where we see Leo with his kids at last....and then.......we see his top on the table spinning. and the top is a symbol of his dreaming. if it never stops spinning, his dreaming, if it falls, hes awake. and we see it......it keeps spinning, and then cuts to credits. Which pretty much just takes out all the meaning of everything you've seen and you then see that Marion Cottilard ( if i'm spelling it right) who plays Leo's dead wife, was right all along on her theory that in what they thought was the real world, was actually a dream world ( and she kills herself, which is how you wake yourself up from the dream). If that little, almost pretentious, bit didn't exist. the film would've been perfect. as it stands now, a phenomenal film, and i plan on seeing it this week again, but i don't know if i can put it in front of toy story yet. the decision is killing me!!!!!!!!!!!

The ending was done perfectly. The top was wobbly when the screen faded, so there is no guarantee that it kept spinning. Plus, maybe it kept spinning because Cobb was not dreaming, but instead he was able to fulfill his dream.

I very much loved the ending. Endings that make you think have that effect on me. To come to terms with yourself in this situation, it's best to not come to a conclusion. It's a thinking movie. Fully resolved endings aren't typical in a thinking movie. This was still a nice review.

Good review. I didn't think the movie seemed long at all, I couldn't believe how fast it moved along. The ending to me is great because the top does that little wobble just before cutting black, just the perfect ending.

The ending of this movie (in my mind) was the perfect ending. Nolan is a genius and I just love endings like that where you leave it up for the audience to decide what happened. I think that it was reality but I could get into a whole other thing about it being a dream. Good review, by the way. Check out mine.

The ending to Inception just might be my favorite ending of all time. It opens the door wide for debate among friends and family as to whether the top would fall or not, what it means, it's just cool.

Agreed with @Soylent. It's meant to be open. You can think that it fell eventually (as it was wobbling), or that it kept spinning proving it was a dream. You can think the whole movie was a dream ,or parts of it were, or none of it. Nolan left this film open to the viewers mind. Very genius.

Good review, but the ending isn't necesarilly one where Mal (Marion Cotillard) is proved correct. That is just an interpretation. The ending is supposed to be open to interpretation. You could see it as a happy ending or you can see it as Cobb is dreaming.
