Colin Farrel and Brendan Gleeson star as bumbling hitmen who go trough hell in Bruges. I wasn't expecting much when I saw trailers for this about a year ago. Then, I saw fantastic reviews on here for this so I decided hat maybe it was time to see "In Bruges". I saw it on HBO and decided to give it a watch. I am very glad I did watch this because this movie was great! It was hilarious and thrilling both at the same time! The movie was a little racy and it really wasn't needed in the script. The midget character was kind of a racist [but he doesn't know it]. But other than that, this movie was incredible! It is definatly a five star movie by far and I hope to add this movie to my DVD collection one day.

THE GOOD:

The movie has an interesting plot and it was full of a few cool twists. It has fine acting and I was really impressed with Colin Farell. He was really funny in this movie and I wish he got a lot more credit in his role than what he did.

THE BAD:

I already mentioned the bad and its really not a huge deal. The movie has a two minute conversation based on a war between black people and white people. It wasn't needed in the movie and really had no point to it. Other than that, a great film.

PLOT: [SPOILERS]

A hitman named Ray [played by Colin Farell] is hired to kill a preist. After shooting the priest about six times, he accidently misses and kills a young boy. Later, Ray and his friend Ken, another hitman, are sent to Bruges for a two week vacation. The point of the vacation was for Ray to have a good time before he died [even though he HATES Bruges]. Ken was supposed to kill Ray for what he did to the poor little boy but when Ken can't kill his friend, their boss comes to Bruges to kill Ken for not killing Ray, and kill Ray himself for what he did to the boy. The movie sounds like a drama but its mostly a comedy. Colin Farrel's character is really funny in this movie and this is definatly one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. The script for this movie was nominated for an Oscar but it lost to Sean Penn's movie "Milk". I haven't seen "Milk" but I think that this movie really deserves an Oscar because the script and idea of the film was just amazing. All and all, the movie has a great and interesting plot.

ACTING:

As I said, Colin Farell is absolutley hilarious in this movie. He is freakin' great in this film. I never excpected him to be so funny and he was. He really surprised me in his role. Colin Farell stars in other movies such as "Pride and Glory", "Tigerland", "SWAT", "Daredevil", and more. I didn't really know the other actors or actresses in this but every performence in this was fantastic!

VISUALS:

Good visuals.

DIRECTION:

I never really have problems with direction and I didn't in this.

OVERALL:

Overall, a funny and suspensful movie. I think that this was one of the best films of 2008. This movie deserved an Oscar for a few things including Best Picture and Comedy and I'm dissapointed it wasn't. I say see this and see it as fast as you can!

I have a question: was this movie even in the movies or was it straight-to-dvd? I'm curious.
