What so I have to do to be able to "see" this video? I have an HTC ONE X phone & I became a member of this site. However, I only get the audio. I can honestly say that I'm a little electronically challenged so I don't really know what "embedded" means or if that is even my problem. Any suggestions?
I so much like this ending better. I know it is just a movie, but I only watched it once since the implication that Dr. Neville did not survive. Also I agree with Paola Varela.
This is SO much better than the original one! Just one thing to object: that Dr. Neville shouldn´t have left ground zero, he should have been stayed there to cure the zombies, but also sending a sample of the cure with Anna. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for posting this ending. It's not the best, but better. And to anyone who has never seen anything other than the candy-coated studio version of "Blade Runner", see the director's cut! Way different and much better ending.
Will Smith's character is "legend" among the afflicted because he is feared and invincible. He is a good man doing harm. He is not "legend" because he dies. Read the book or, actually, see Vincent Price in "The Last Man on Earth", an earlier, and better, adaptation. In the Price movie they actually explain what "I Am Legend" means.
Feel like I should point out to everyone who's shouting 'do not want' that this 'alternate' ending is actually the original ending, and is in fact the most important aspect of the novel on which the film was based. 'I am Legend' itself comes from the revelation that Neville is the terror who slaughters his way through a hoarde of intelligent and emotional beings who he misinterpreted as unthinking monsters, but mainly because the paradigm has shifted and now he is the last of his kind in a changed world. Jus' sayin'.
just seen this version on TV (seen twice before with original ending) and nearly fell off my seat in surprise, but actually this is a really nice ending to it, and shows emotion/awareness of the zombies which was hinted at in the scene where they use the dummy to catch Will's character! much more humanist ending - really liked it! I was really caught up in the emotion of the original ending which left me with a very sad, bleak feeling (as I'm sure its meant to)....but this inspired more HOPE - I had a real moment when he was talking to the other survivor about Bob Marley about the light...and my kitchen light went on for some strange reason. Light up the darkness! :-)
This ending follows the books ending and makes more sense in that it makes Will Smith's character the legend and not the other way around. Dr. Neville thought he was doing right looking for a cure, but at what cost? The "zombies" as you call them are only hostile because they see Neville as a threat, understandably, as he keeps kidnapping and torturing them. The "zombies" don't feel they need to be cured.
This ending is okay..but they made the right choice for the original ending where he dies I think. The alternative seems a bit corny and I dont think I could of taken it as seriously and besides Neville said he didn't want to leave his site. A sequel should never be made for this film either. Oh, and I would like to add that Sam (the dawg) was awesome in this btw, I
Neville doesn't have to die to be legend. He was legend all along among the diseased people as a dangerous killer. You see throughout the movie they have intelligence and society. You see they have feelings and might be pissed about being kidnapped for medical experiments against their will. Shows the flip side of usual monster movie.
this ending makes way more sense if you pay close attention to the details because all over the movie they show human like characteristics and this ending just really shows it love it
Both endings were disappointing, however the movie ending was more disappointing. The movie ending had a better plot, but was done very poorly. This ending was done infinitely better, but has a rubbish plot.
If Will Smith hadn't have died, then the movie wouldn't have been called "i am LEGEND", because you cant be alive to be a legend. He found the cure and gave up his life to protect it, the civilization will forever remember him for what he did. If he would've saved the zombies then there would be no cure and he would just be an ordinary person, not a LEGEND.
Lame. I'm glad that they didn't choose this ending for the theatrical release because it would have ruined the movie. Give the vampire-zombies feelings? Seriously? Besides it was way more climactic and badass when Will Smith found the cure and gave up his life to protect it. People just like this ending because they don't like to see heroes die and also want a sequel. In my opinion this movie is one that doesn't need a sequel because it's just so good that a sequel would more than likely kill the plot(just like Pirates). Besides, most sequels today suck anyways and are just made for the money.
for those of you who think that the creatures showed no humanistic or compationate qualities at all until this ending, your wrong... all throughtout the movie they showed that that guy was that womens husband you could tell... i think this was a much better ending because it made more sense with what they had already done in the movie
Facts are facts. Reguardless who says diffrent, the original ending sucked bad. The fact the hero dies, is over done in horror type flicks anymore. The showing in this, that even though they are changed, they still hold humanistic feelings, like love, would have been a huge story maker, and a sequal booster. This alternate ending would have made the movie that much better, and more a feeling that you was not let down couse of the long constant solo storyy line driven by one man and a dog. This gives more hope for what a sequal could be, and a better contection to the "zombied" humans, showing them to be savable, in which th whole movie was shooting for, and realistic.
Well to tell you the truth, if there was anything thats that glorious about the movie, it would have to be the ending. and by changing that, I think the movie just got ruined because we see too many movies where the villains turn good and turn out to be good at the end
The original was definitely better because Will Smith's character needs to be sacrificed for dramatic effect. The zombies are a walking disease, and a cure must be found at all cost! The death of one person will save millions!!!
The ending wasn't bad. I like the fact that Will Smith's character lived through the whole thing. But I didn't like the zombies or whatevers embracing each other, that was pretty craptastic.
