Hot tub time machine starts out relatively well, with its characters and their dilemmas. Backed by a cast of quality work and having fun, holding your attention at first. The scene where they discover to be in the past is hilarious, a collection of references to the '80s, perhaps the decade most of all cheesy. Even the forgotten glam rock band Poison, one of the most effeminate of the story, the film is greatly remembered. All this ends up giving a touch of class to work, which stands out with his costumes, his soundtrack themes and construction of a season.

Unfortunately the interest ends there, because the script shows very weak and predictable. First the motivation of the characters is so weak that it does not really make any sense, because after all, with the exception of Jacob, all have the chance to live their lives again, hit you where wrong and win more twenty years of life, so why they would want to return to their lives of losers?

Another factor that tries to be worked on is the relationship of friendship between them, which was weakened by life and its upheavals. They are no longer regarded as friendly as before and tried to understand why. Despite the clever attempt, the context is not addressed satisfactorily, being a renegade subdrama without the depth and quality. The humor is not the worst, some jokes are good, others are not very funny and has no other are pretty awful. but the style of "Superbad" needs to be very interesting , and not just push everything, inventing villains and instant solutions to their problems. Even the feeling of the past is lost at times. To try to handle this wave, numerous references are cited most modern equipment, but do not produce the effect expected due to the manner in which they played in history, except the scene where Nick sings a hit for the modern audience.

In the end, hot tub time machine is more a waste of time than fun. Exploring so unattractive the time travel, the film tries to be funny and dramatic. The team, led by Cusack, has its moments, but unfortunately gets lost in the forgettable situations
