A decent enough flick to keep you entertained.

I had been wanting to see this movie for a while now. I had heard it wasn't all that great. But I rented it anyways, just because I sometimes disagree with what the critics say. I think that they were a little too hard on the film, but to an extent I agree with them.

The plot like I said is what made me want to get the movie. Kevin Bacon is a scientist that is full of himself. Him and his crew are testing to see if you can make animals and humans turn invisible. It works on the ape they try it on. So against their boss' will, they move onto phase 3, and do human testing. Bacon wants to be the first human to go invisible (so that it will feed his ego). So the transformation going invisible goes fine, but when they try to make him go back, that's another story. He cannot transform back into a visible being. So what does he do? Ya, what any other perv would do, or just plain mean stuff, including murder. I know, what the hell? He has an ego, but a rapist, and a murderer? I doubt it.

The acting is neither good nor bad. Kevin Bacon is a good actor, and there is nothing wrong with him, but he isn't in my favorites. Not in least favorites either. He does a decent job in this. Although he is invisible throughout most of the film, he still does pretty good. Elisabeth Shue I don't know too much about, but she's alright in this one. She is one of the scientists in the experiment. And so is Josh Brolin. He isn't in the film too much though. I think this was one of his first movies.

The director is Paul Verhoeven. He brought us Totall Recall. That was a better film of his. I really don't like the sexual undertone of this film. Other than that his directing is only ok.

The visuals are absolutely stunning! 5 stars! If you see this movie for any reason, let the visuals be it. When Kevin Bacon is turning invisible, it is awesome. Granted, he is naked, (that's the part I disagree with) but it is so cool how first his skin goes, then his insides, then finally his skeleton. It's so cool.

Overall, a decent enough flick to keep you entertained, but don't expect great things, mainly because of some of the turns it took. It cold have been better. I thought it was stupid where towards the end, Kevin Bacon turns into a killer. Ya, he starts to kill his scientific friends. Don't ask me why. They were always nice to him. He was the *sshole, him and his ego. But he was full of himself, not a killer, so that was kinda dumb.

My biggest problem with the film is that he is naked throughout the film.

I agree, this was good but nothing to brag about. I also did not care to see Kevin Bacon's manhood during the entire film either.
