"Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" is must see for fantasy/ action goers this summer. Unlike the first "Hellboy" film, which had to do with the undead, chaos gods, and nazis, this one is a lot more mythical, involving elves, trolls, and fairies. The story is about an elvin prince named "Prince Nuada"(Luke Goss), who is determined to unleash the "Golden Army" and destroy us humans, to allow elves to rule the world once again. Yes, in the film's mythology, elves were the first rulers of the world until they made atruce with humans, for that the humans will live in citys and villages, while mythical creatures lived in the forests. And the only way to unleash the Golden Army is to get three gold peices which form into a crown when put together. And anyone who has royalty in their blood can control the army with the crown. So now it is up to "Hellboy" (Ron Pearlman), "Liz Sherman" (Selma Blair), "Abe Sapien' (Doug Jones, who also voices the character this time), and newcomer "Johann Krauss" (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) and the rest of the "B.R.P.D." to stop Nuada from collecting the three peices. the acting is just as great as the original film, "Luke Goss" gives off the most powerful performance in my opnion, the visual effects are spectactular, the creatures are something beyond imagination, and the action is non-stop. Also if I may add, there is some clever humor throughout the film. "Guillemo Del Toro" is one of the most clever and imaginative directors out there today. Sum it up, "Hellboy 2" is a must see summer flick for all movie goers.

Great review! I LOVED this movie. Better than the first one. Glad I saw this in the theater for all the special effects. Wouldn't have had the same effect as a rental. Just wish Abe could have had a love interest too!! lol

Nice review! Very insightful. It sounds like this is shaping up to be a lot better then the original in regards to story, since now that the origins have been told, the comic book's overall theme can finally get going.

I too noticed that Luke Goss seemed to be a rather interesting character in the trailers, and I'll be seeing this sometime soon.
