Welcome to a film that puts aside the computer generated gore and reintroduces the creepiness of tangible, torn latex and fake blood. "Hatchet" is an instant classic in the hack n' slash, comedy/horror genre. This film is fun hands down and there is no doubt all those involved enjoyed what they were doing, as the spirit of the film would suggest. "Hatchet" wastes no time, jumping right into the thrills & chills. The back story is quick and effective. The characters develop right along with the plot. Our new symbol of fear, Victor Crowley, is part man, part monster, and part myth. Given some sense of anguish and human sadness, Crowley manages to both scare us and make us feel sympathetic. By the time he starts to dismantle our fun loving cast, literally, you'll find yourself rooting for more carnage. Quite a few notable kills in this film too, and the gore is over-the-top without a doubt. Besides you can't go wrong with a cameo from Robert Englund and Kane Hodder actually running full speed at his victims! A must see for horror fans, especially those with a taste for 80's slasher films. Enjoy!
