In Harry Potters second year at Hogwarts School of Witchraft and Wizardy, something evil has returned and it's up to Harry and friends to save the day...again(!) With flying cars and whomping willows, not to forget, giant scary spiders; Chamber of Secrets is a a memorable film sequel that's even better than the first.
Yes, Chris Columbus directs the film adaptation of J.K. Rowlings magical Harry Potter book series, and yet again director Chris Columbus dpoes another fantastic vanilla job at making this movie. It seems like he has that same problem with taking everything from the book and filming it into the movie. Does this guy every know about the element of surprise? Of course not. Chamber of Secrets is a great movie, don't get me wrong, but still, it's long and slow at times in the middle. The begginning is good and the story is great, but after two hours in the movie starts to feel bland to me. It's not until the third act, things get real interesting with my favorite creature, the Basilisk starts to attack Harry, and he must rescue Ginny. Once the moive is over, you'll want to see it again.
THe visual effects are wonderfull to watch at home and the surround sound is perfect, you might actually think giant spiders are in your room as you watch the most exciting scene in the movie! The CGI castle looks so real at times, with bright dimly lit colors and lush green grass, absoulutely beautiful.
All the main cast members return once again to bring us another great performances from Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Richard Harris (in his last role as Dumbledore) and Maggie Smith who keeps on shining as Prof. McGonagoll as wells as Alan Rickman who returns to reprise his role as the deeply poweful performance as Snape who opens up with more screen time to show his greatness. All the background supporting cast returns, each and everyone of them do a damn good job. Being that this is only the second film, the actors will only get better with each proceeding movie.
With his second and last directing job in the franchise, Chris Columbus has taken us on a sub-par mediocre childs fantasy film that's a great family oriented movie with an even darker tone than the first!

@ghostman DOBBY! So many wonderful things about this one. This was the first one I saw in theaters, and the Basilisk scene was INSANE! Nice review!
