Happy Feet: Review By Big Mike
Proves that Pixar and Diseny aren't the only ones that can make a great animated movie.

The story of "Happy Feet" is a 3rd person view of a life of a minority-penguin. Everyone he knows can sing. . .good, and he sings like crap. Although, he has a gift. . .dancing. He can tap dance very well and most everyone shuns him about it. His own father thinks his son is a disappointment. The "penguin elders" tell "Mumble" he must leave because he is a omen thats making all the fish go away, so"Mumble" later leaves his home to embark on a dangerous journey which will change all the penguins lives. . .forever. The story really gripped me with a firm grasp and didn't let me go as it won't you. Many twists and turns will make it very, un-predictable
As far as the acting went, Elijah Woods portrayed his dance fever penguin flawlessly. The cast did a great job, it consists of Elijah Woods as "Mumble," Brittany Murphy as "Gloria," the "best" singing penguin out of, all of the penguins and the one penguin that all the male want. Sadly Brittany Murphy has passed away. . .the cast also has Hugh Jackman as "Memphis" a country-like singing father to "Mumble," also, Nicole Kidman stars as husband to "Memphis," and mother to "Mumble," she plays "Norma Jean." The cast is wonderful, beautifully crafted together to make a voluptuous movie.
The directing was great, George Miller who directed a Mel Gibson action flick known as "Mad Max," also, Warren Coleman co-directed, and the third co-director, Judy Morris who directed "Luigi's Ladies," in 1989. They did a real good job focusing in the characters expressions, emotions, and reactions. They also did a good job on following the character on "action" scenes if you will.
The visuals were good. Although at some scenes I questioned myself if what I saw was clear or not. Some things I thought you could easily tell looked "poofy," a sea lion I believe it was looked bigger than they usually do, but thats just a little aspect that I happened to see, nothing too big. They animators (don't know they're names, sorry) did a really fantastic job putting together the penguins. In the movie you could tell "Mumble" was different from the rest of the penguins because he was a different color, he was black, white, and grey while all the others were black, white, and yellow. He really stood out and thats what the animators what you to know. He's truly a minority.
"Happy Feet" will always be one of my animated favorites as it should yours. It's got all the great elements to a movie as you can see. Movies are things that are meant to manipulate the viewer into the characters world/fantasy and "Happy Feet," will do so.
