Green Lantern: Review By Forrestgump1

I tried to like Green Lantern .. i really did but i just could not take it seriously. Ryan Reynolds was not well suited , it was a thin plot with no truly good action sequences. It tries but its best is not good enough One of the worst movies of the year

This may come to you as no surprise considering all my friends warned me this movie was gonna suck and be lame .. and stood up for up saying nah it will be fine. Turns out my friends were right. This is by far the worst movie i have seen this year. Its sad really all the publicity this movie has had and all the waiting ever since we saw the first trailer back in November i was real excited for this movie. It looked like it had potential to kick of a new franchise like Iron Man did but this does not even come close. Maybe it was the lead Ryan Reynolds? or the script as terrible as it was. I mean they had to spend about 20mins explaining the whole damn movie about what was gonna happen. Then the movie takes about an hour to get itself going and even by then i was already bored. The villain was another thing. I could not stop laughing. I mean here it is this villain who is supposed to be scary and maniacal but i was just balling cause of the way he looked. So there was a relief sort - of. But the movie had its moments at trying to redeem itself but it was already too late the ending was somewhat cool the only somewhat good thing about it but it can't save it for me to tell you to see it. It tries to go for that Star-Wars type theme with the aliens and all the mythical stuff but that just feels phony and washed - up. I'm really disappointed as Green Lantern should have been one of the better movies of the year. It was Bland and boring.

Hal Jordan (Reynolds) is a Air Force Pilot whom is c*cky and feels is untouchable. After a training session gone wrong he is put on probation. After which a green circle attacks him and flies him to this dying purple alien telling him that the "Ring" choose him and that now he is a protector of his Universe. He soon takes the lantern given to him and pledges the oath and is taken away to a distant planet called Owa or something like that. Where he meets all the other Lanterns and is told of an imminent threat which is coming straight for earth a force that can not be reckoned with ..But a scientist Hector Hammond who has been exposed to another alien life-form and is starting to take control. Hal soon realizes that he can be a lantern and that the ring made a mistake because in order to be a lantern you need to be fearless. But the ring never makes a mistake. So will Hal fight this thing for good and save his people? what do you think.

Story: The story really annoyed me from start to finish i mean how many times have we seen this "the chosen one" type deal and then they discover how it was a mistake and it can not be done i think we saw that ? Kung Fu Panda?. It just feels Rushed , Tacked and unoriginal the characters are and the idea of the lanterns but its just not there your gonna feel cheated believe me. Acting: Was terrible i swear if i had to hear another cheeseball line i was going to hurt someone some of the lines spat of in this movie get so annoying and cheesy i could not stand it. The Romance between Blake Lively and Reynolds was not even close to what it should have been the romance never really goes anywhere and is never fully developed and that's bad for the audiences. Cause we expect it to speculate some more which it never amounts to anything. Directing: Martin Cambell directed this disaster and well he has brought one of the most beloved comic books of all time to the big screen and has pretty much insulted it , like spitting on it almost. I just could not handle the movie anymore. He rushed the movie from the start by releasing a trailer in November not only that he had it converted to 3D in Post-Production which i do not no why?. Just to make that extra money.. well its gonna help it i suppose. Visuals: Were probably the movies strong suit the 3D never really helped with that illusion it was just bland and never really stuck out! and got my attention i was so bored.

Overall: I tried to like Green Lantern .. i really did but i just could not take it seriously. Ryan Reynolds was not well suited , it was a thin plot with no truly good action sequences. It tries but its best is not good enough One of the worst movies of the year. Lets look at the facts here No Villain worth watching the acting was pretty much bad and the visuals were just not good. At this point any movie this year could be better than Green Lantern. In the end its the worst superhero movie that has ever been released. Hell Green Hornet was better than this trash. If your going to see this i warn you now for the headache you are about to receive. X-Men First Class is the best superhero movie this year go see that its much better perceived and made. This was just a rushed Train-Wreck .. one after another the movie just never quits it keeps on going and by then you already know or have the idea how the movie is going to pan out. Well i was hoping it would have panned out a little better. But this mine as well be a straight to dvd release. For all i care. Its nothing worth paying the price of admission for. Let me tell ya. So please do me and yourself a favor don't go putting your money towards this movie you will not have fun , you will be bored , and you will be tired and hating it by the films credits. Blackest Day , Darkest Night this movie is terrible.

@moviefreak97@daveactor7@thedude-abides - guys, the worst superhero movie is "Wild Wild World of Batwoman." Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Looks like I'll save my "green" and skip this one : /

A way to state a point....but yeah, if The Mime were to chose, it would be Iron Man that leaped out more, but just by an hair......still, GL was a good show....

Surprised that this movie has gotten bad reviews when I expected it to be good, but I'll still give it a shot. I still want to see it, so that I can give my own opinion about it. Great review, Forrest.

honestly, when I saw it was in CGI way back it's gonna fail... moreso when I saw the first trailer. It had the quirkiness of the same old Ryan Reynolds who has the comedic, awkwardness intended .

Hal Jordan was not funny, was not even trying he is straight up no non-sense test pilot and did what needs to be done to save the world, the galaxy even.

And stop putting lame side kicks, the main character can stand up on his own and collaborate with supporting cast without the aforementioned!

Nice review man thanks for the additional info!

    Good review

Was it bad yes but the worst comic book movie no. I have you seen Catwoman the old Captain America, Steel, or Ghost Rider. Those are just some of the comic book movies I'd nominate for the worst comic movie.
