G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra: Review By Dethklokx7

I like many others saw the trailers for GI Joe and thought WTF. But I personally don`t judge a movie until I see it. After watching it, i was suprised to see that this film is not as bad as most say and i finally understand why. Sure its not Oscar worthy but it still manages to keep the viewer entertained. I know quite a bit about the cartoon and i must say it was just the same. Let me explain. Many say that it had little plot and that is correct but was the show any different? Good guys fight bad guys who want to take over the world and say cheesy one liners. Its the same as the cartoon in that sense so why are fans mad? Another issue people stated was the look of the characters. I personally don`t mind the new look because seriously, would you want Destro looking like a knock off of the movie version of Dr.Doom from fantastic four? His "alternative" look makes more sense and is more appealing to the eye. Also those who dislike the new Cobra Commander should know that the character would wear different looks over time and the next film might have a mask thats more to the orginal. Snake Eyes with lips seems weird but i guess he has to breath/eat somehow. Again, I don`t mind the looks and i still liked the movie. What people are doing is trying to get more out of it than it really is. Its a good summer movie that should entertain and thats all. Did you really believe it would make you think like other films? Compare the film to the Mummy 2, its simple but manages to grasp your attention and have fun with it.As a final note as a fan of the orginal franchise consider it an origin story and (which the show did not really touch on) it may lead to something bigger and better.After all the title is called the rise of cobra meaning its starting out so give it a chance. this movie gets a 3.5 out of 5 for me.
