Why was there some chages to two of the most important long time well known G.I. Joe subplots. The two subplots are well known to long time G.I. Joe fans. For one is the relationship between Duke and Scarlett. It did not feel right at all seeig that it was Duke and the Baroness in the movie. I keep having that feeling of when will it end and they start building the boyfriend girldfriend relationship between Duke and Scarlett. The second important long time subplot has to do with Duke again. In the G.I. Joe world Duke is created as a soldier in his midthirties, who is a good friend with General Hawk not Ripcord. So if General Hawk needed help in picking new soldiers in G.I. Joe, he would go to Duke for that. What has happen with Duke in the movie is only good for the new G.I. Joe fans, who are just getting started. It does nothing for the long time fans. It only make them ask why did they do this or that to the storyline and characters. In the G.I Joe world, the relationships has always been Duke and Scarlett, Destro and the Baroness and Flint and Lady Jaye. So when ever they do bring in Flint and Lady Jaye in the movie, hopfully the relationship is between the two of them. Also hope they will fix the Duke Scarlettone inWhy was there some chages to two of the important long time well known G.I. Joe subplots. The two subplots are well known to long time G.I. Joe fans. Over all the movie had a good storyline outside of the ok subplots. Dennis Quaid did a good job in playing General Hawk. But as for Duke he is not shown as long time Joe and is a good friend with General Hawk. Duke is surrpose to have been in G.I. Joe as long as Scarlett, which they did not for the movie. Ripcord is surrpose to come in way later as a joe. The idea of a underwater base was a good one for the storyline. The special effects of the movie was nothing, special It not the kind you go wow atall to, like a James Cameron, George Lacus and Steven Spielberg type. The changing of the subplots did not help alittle. As for Cobra Commander, let see how it goes in the future movies. The Baroness's brother being Cobra Commander, they could have lefet that part out, and said it was lap project with people that cause it happen. future G.I. Joe movies.

The Barroness/Duke relationship is another example of the disconnect between screenwriters and the fans of this genre. They just don't seem to understand that it's OK to tweak minor themes but don't mess with the bare bones structure of the original. Personally, I disliked the Ripcord/Scarlett relationship more b/c they destroyed the Scarlett/Duke dynamic from the original in the name of force feeding social commentary.

Ugh, spelling errors all over the place and the same paragraph repeated how many times?
