The story-a tv cast of the popular show "Galaxy Quest" have since been struggling with their careers since their show ended, but an unusual event happens in which the cast is taken aboard a spaceship with real aliens, who have taken the "Galaxy Quest" concept and turned it into reality. Now the problem is not only is this real, but the threat as well and it is about to get very real. A very intriguing story one which I have never heard of actually with the films that I have seen. The storyline is strong and solid particularly in a comedy and I credit screenwriters David Howard and Robert Gordon for taking an obvious reminiscence to the infamous "Star Trek" series but also making it hilarious and keeps it well out of the way of getting too serious or getting too funny.
The acting- Tim Allen plays Jason Nesmith, who is the big star of the popular Galaxy Quest series. His character changes throughout the film after realizing that his cast members deserve the same recognition he has and that without them, he would be nothing. A great comedic performance by Allen. Sigourney Weaver plays Gwen DeMarco the only female member of the tv cast of Galaxy Quest and her character grows by coming to terms with Jason. A good performance by Weaver although she could have been given much more to work with. Alan Rickman, steals the show here as Alexander Dane. He portrays his character so well, especially kicking in hilarious scenes while being a serious character who has nothing else in mind but getting back to his planet Earth. The entire cast is brilliant and hilarious and they do a fantastic job in keeping the story moving. They were the ones the audience would pay attention through the entire film.
The directing-Dean Parisot does a good job in keeping the film short and keeping it moving. He also does well in bringing out great comedic performances from every single actor in the film. He also pays attention more to the cast then towards anything else and that is what was most necessary for this film.
The visuals-Industrial light and magic does a swell job here making the cgi good enough to seem a bit realistic. The rock creature especially. The digital characters that needed more work on though were the little blue aliens. The space battles and chases as well, seeming more to be in a video game then a movie. The cinematography-well there is certainly nothing to look at. The shots mainly focus on the actors performances' but cinematographer Jerzy Zielinski knows that this film is mainly a comedy and keeping shots on the characters is more important.
The score- David Newman does a good job here especially with a near memorable theme and that piece does well in capturing the comedy, and the adventures through space. His other pieces do the same thing as well and I wish he could have given much more to the score. Famous comedic movies like "The Pink Panther" in which Henry Mancini developed one of the most infamous scores in cinematic history and earning him an oscar nomination.
Overall, the entire movie is worth seeing for the laughs and the interesting characters.

Ah man, I completely agree with this. They did a great job of skewing the Star Trek culture. I saw this with my dad a number of years ago, and we were both Trekkies, so you can imagine we got a big kick out of this. Good stuff, fun movie. Great review, Dave :)
