Funny Games: Review By Hunch51984

Intense and unsettling, Funny Games is a very effective thriller that keeps you in shock and awe throughout the film.

Every once in awhile you'll get a film that's sole purpose is to shock and disturb you, and Funny Games does this very effectively. The most disturbing aspect of the film are its two killers who kill at random and purely for entertainment. Like a little kid at the dinner table with his food, the killers play with their victims slowly and meticulously working away at them both physically and mentally.

I couldn't help but draw comparisons to Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange where you have these kids who for no reason choose to torture and kill in the most disturbing ways possible. All the while charming the audiences with their witty dialogue and devilish charm. While Funny Games is very intriguing it does lag a bit in the middle even though it does add to the suspense, it does take a bit away from the movie just a bit.

If you are tired of the same old stuff, then Funny Games provides a great alternative to some of the generic horror/suspense movies that get churned out every year.
