not the most polished vampire flick, but definitely worth checking out.

this movie had some flaws, let's just agree on that from the getgo.

from the start you can nitpick at some subpar acting, directing and editing, but once you get a few minutes into the movie the flaws become less overt and you start to get a feel for the characters.

it employs some less-then-awesome pacing on occasion, and you will hear people say it jumps around a lot (which it does) and that it tries to cram too much story into too little time (which it does), but people who love to bitch and tear sh*t apart are often the worst kind of people, so don't go on their word and decide this movie isn't worth your time, because it totally is.

all flaws aside this movie is a lot of fun, has some great special effects, likable characters of varying age ranges making it enjoyable to adults and teens, an interesting back story which is well delivered, slowly over the course of the movie and lots of little quirks and unexpected twists to the story development which will either make you giggle or sit closer to the edge of your seat as you wonder what will happen next.

the ending was a little "eh", with the apparent intention to leave you wondering what happens next (or whether a sequel is imminent) but still sort of oddly satisfying.

all in all, i say definitely check it out if you like quirky vampire movies that are half-original andhalf-borrowed from other vampire stories.

eh, aside from that it has vampires and takes place somewhere where the sun goes down for weeks at a time it was nothing like 30 days of night which is a movie that i hated.

Man,I disliked this flick, reviewed it back when it was originally released. It was just riding the coattails of 30 Days of Night. But yes, Supes, definitely check out Frontier(s), it kicks ass. I did a full review for that one too.

I actually had a close friend of mine recommend Frontiers as well, recently. Since it's gotten 2 recommendations now, I'll check it out.

word, thanks i'll keep an eye out for it.
my favorite horrorfest flicks were senseless and frontiers, if you haven't already seen them then consider giving them a whirl, they both (despite their flaws) have lots of merit, in my opinion.

It was part of 'Fangoria Frightfest'. You can add Dark House on Netflix, if you have that.

Oh yeah. Speaking of which, I watched one, I don't remember if it's from that series, but one of those collection series, anyways... It was called Dark House. Try to look for it. It was surprisingly good. That's a recommendation from me, I think you'd like it.

right on, lately i've been all about checking out the independent sh*t that has been pouring out from all over the world, it's pretty hit or miss sometimes,
like those afterdark horrorfest movies, those collections could be called the afterdark crapfest but a handful of those were pretty memorable.

I've found you can be picky and still have lots of choices to choose from. Just have to know what to look for. I keep current with certain actors/directors, and that helps guide me most of the time.

right on, yeah i realized after i said that that i actually have no idea how old you are.
a couple years ago i started running out of sh*t to watch and realized, hey, if i lighten up a little bit then suddenly i'll have about fifty billion more movies to choose from.

haha, that's okay, all movie nerds start out snobby.
after about 15 more years you'll start to loosen up a bit, thats how long it took me.

you seem to have overlooked all the positive things i said, including that it was fun, entertaining and only some of the acting was sub-par.
all in all it was totally a decent movie, despite having flaws and since scores are subjective i rated it based on that i enjoyed it.

So, from your review, it was very flawed, subpar acting, directing, editing, less then awesome pace, and an ending that was eh, and it borrowed ideas from other vampire movies, and yet it ranks a 4.0 with you? Okay..
