From Paris with Love: Review By SCREENWRITER

I'm sure fans of "Taken" will enjoy this full-throttle action flick! I did...for the most part.

The director of last year's "Taken" directs this bloody, action-pakced, humorous adventure starring John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. This, for Travolta, was a bit of a different kind of role for him. He was a bit on the jolty side in this movie, BUT, his character is what makes this movie so energetic and high-paced. The movie is filled with a couple cool action scenes and I'm sure anyone can have a rush watching this movie. I mean, its not amazing, but its a good enough action flick that kills an hour and a half. But, I'll say this now, its no where near as good as "Taken" was.

ACTING:

From what I read in the newspaper when this movie came out is, quote, "Best Travolta since "Pulp Fiction!""....well...thats not so true. Travolta has definitly played better characters than Waxx from this movie. I mean, sure, Waxx was definitly a fun character to witness only once, but, the character development is nothing special from this. John Rhys Meyers, whom I've never seen in a movie before this, plays Reece. As Reece, his role is solid and he does a pretty good job. When it comes to the acting in "From Paris with Love", it is no major problem whatsoever.

VISUALS:

Like I already said, "From Paris with Love" is filled scene after scene with reckless violence. BUT, some of it gets a little out-of-hand. I felt like Travolta's character was just written to do crazy stunts and killshots just for the hell of it. BUT, the movie has some loud explosions and entertaining bloody violence.

DIRECTION:

I will only say one thing under the "direction" section. Pierre Morel knows how to make an action movie! Even if some of it is a little out-of-hand, it is still very true!

OVERALL:

OVERALL, "From Paris with Love" is a decent, one time only, action-movie that should entertain in its hour and a half time-slot. I'd give it a rent.

Rent it.

i agree with you almost completley. as much as i loved the hell out of it, and saw it at a theater several times, most people will enjoy it more as a dvd rental. although, it is a great film to see with an audience, but most people will probably feel that as a dvd rental it was not a waste of money for about 5 bux as opposed to around 7 or 9 bux at a theater. depending on where you live ofcourse.
