FRIGHTNIGHT is the most enjoyable horror movie of this year- or what ever else you may call this movie. I know through my previous reviews i indulge in the sophistication of horror- the genres antidote- the gauntness- the jumps- sadly here there are neither five nor four by two- but still theres a dreaded aghast presence that lingers around Farrell characterization of JERRY- the rogue vampire besmirched- hot- muscular- even myself i would blush to have my neck gorged by- this posterity, this raw conceit- the smoothness, the poise, the aura of self preservation, the astuteness, the solitary bewildering power he holds on his own upon the screen- chemistry- gore- indulgence- makes this a sumptuously grand ride.

Charlie- (ANTON. Y) has a beautiful mom (Toni Collette) an even more gorgeous babe, and an old friend hot on his tail for restoration of their friendship, Ed (the splendid Christopher Mintz Plasse- though the predictable ending doesnt suit him) so people are going missing in the town- or city of LA- a place where people work late and sleep in the day- perfect place for our own JERRY- Ed pleads Charlie to listen to him beseeching him blackmailing him to please look at the logistics i got- but due to previous nerdom- Charlie knows what Ed's mind is like- along with their old usual antics caught on film! So long story short descriptions are out of the question, though Jerry moves in for the kill-literally- and it just evolves around Charlie's sure sightedness- in security and just about avid action- great gimmickry that is substantial and worthy to the films formatting and style- and that's what this film has got- STYLE- from the greatest ever opening title sequence / editing/ music that has ever opened a film in years- an elusory huge event- so off Charlie goes finds VINCENT PRICE- David Tennant- lar lar acting, vulgarity, swearing- this film is heap loaded with triumphant power.

To make this review as insightful, and genuinely intriguing i must coerce that the original was a classic, a tour- de force of lunacy- the frivolous callous maneuverability of its campiness, though it still was stilted and a bit MIS matched- though the unique vampire designs are recaptured here as is the tone and humor.

The ingenious to this said film- the remake- is the use to performance- the acting is sublime- they are their characters, Anton. Y having been seen in many arrayed features is top form here, his peculiar husky adolescent voice pure key to his existentialism, his self, a film about the wholesome growth of dimensionality to a persons strength.

Colin Farrell- alas has shined once again- a evil- grotesquely beautiful creature- of charm- allure- and just a rightfully placed vampire- coy/ c*cky, grinning and taking a swipe of an apple with his bleached white teeth, after his plan had fulfilled- also the back drop of the story- the evolution he was creating- the blood he seeks to the progression of a family- the storage rooms he keeps behind his wardrobe- not so Narnia- more like- get the f*ck out of there*

This film was penned by Tom Holland way back but rewritten and drafted by a strong writing team or writer- a usual BUFFY drafter here- scribing an ingeniously fun dark malicious tempting piece of art. Its stylistic, its emotional, its action packed- the 3D and the way it is used is both masterful and fulfilling. The director having directed two previous faulted films such like the wasted comedy that is Mr. Woodc*ck finds his air here in the lore of horror- him both and screen writer Marti Noxon making the most out of the usual vampire guff, and the ingenius of their new freshly scribed formulated ideas.....the directing is both very cool, smooth, often hard-edged- playing off like a graphic novel adapatation- from the floating title sequence- to the scene where the camea drags on for the duration of 1 mintue around the car or longer whilst hell is happening arond them- falsly cut to look like a one soht- but still fulfills is intention.

Its neither horror at its best- but its filmmaking at its highest- both entertaining, it shows that with a director he can capture what a horror movie is though without the trivializes of making you jump- though i am on edge and you will be when Charlie risks his life to save a captured neighbor- though Colin is charming- your still scarred of him- he beautiful, over bearing- but dastardly evil- those slick eye brows mean noting when hes sucking your blood.

The horror gags of flying gore is alas- NOT- a cheap gag- it is to the uses of the horror- and you are- whilst watching g- in the film, in the posited place of these people.

Truly a honorable remake- rehash, and a career eye opener for these already established actors.

Stylistic, beautifully executed, coy, charming, dark, mysterious, clever, smart, tense (no jumps) a very grandeur piece of cinehorrorc*mcomedy*

It has its faults, but- i just remeber every single second of just enjoying it- perfect cinema- but not perfect horror*
