Everyone knows about this legend from Crystal Lake. I don't think I have much to tell here. I would be comparing the entire franchise with the reboot though. Now Before I intended to watch the reboot I first watched the entire series just to get a more insight to who really Jason is and how he unleashed himself. Now the series was good and at times it even deviated from its original plot. I think a reboot was kind of needed. Now one thing good about the reboot was that it really stuck to the original plot in fact it is a composition of the first four parts of the franchise. I advise that viewers should first check these parts of the original franchise and then see the reboot just for a better grasp.

The cast selection and performance doesn't really matters in movies like these, I mean anyone can scream ;) But still it was okay to say the least.

Marcus Nispel did the direction. Marcus did a good thing in shooting the sequence back at Crystal Lake and sticking to the original story. He even gave Jason a better look and made him more terrifying than what he previously was. He knew what was needed and he delivered it well using the best camera angles that were possible.

What the writers did needs to be highlighted. The writers did a good thing in merging the first four parts of the original franchise so that in case the viewers haven't seen those they'd still know about the plot. They also kept Jason dominant in his home ground and the most important factor was to showcase Jason's Layer and how things worked in it. The original franchise never really showed to what it felt like to be in the layer but thankfully the missing piece was finally found! A brother searching for his lost sister ends up in Jason's Layer. The story was well put and despite the movie set in modern time it still gave the classic taste to what really a thriller is! The writers did a good job in showcasing most of the details missed in the original franchise. They also gave a depth to what it really is to be a killer. You don't see Jason sharpening his machete back then. ;)

Summing it up.......The reboot is arguably better than the franchise. I'm saying this because the details missed in the original franchise were covered up in this one. Jason Fans won't be disappointed to go back to where it all began. :)
