Franklyn is an interesting dramatic, romance, fantasy, thriller that has a huge mystery surrounding four different plot lines that eventually come together in a bizarre ending. The acting was good Ryan Phillippe, Eva Green and Sam Riley all give good performances, and are all believable as the characters they portray. The movie does in a way feel like a cross between Dark City and Donnie Darko, but it also looks like what Terry Gilliam and Ridley Scott would of done had they made a movie together witch makes for interesting visuals. The most interesting part of the movie takes place in this parallel universe called Meanwhile city where a man named John Preest is going to avenge the death of a young girl who died the rest of the movie takes place in present day london where three different plots take place. There are many interesting themes being played out one being religion the other being fate and it makes for an interesting fantasy plot twist that combines the two. I give the director great credit for creating a satisfying metropolis that looks very much like a graphic novel, but near the end of the movie he starts to reveal a bit to much on how the ending of the movie is going to play out , and thats when it kind of gets a little disappointing. The film was good and its a well done fantasy movie and the ending is good but at the same time while your watching it you do feel like you've seen it before and that was the only real problem I had with the movie was that while the movie was original at the same time it also felt unoriginal. Its worth the watch it's a good movie its even better the second time because there are little things you can pick up on that you may not have noticed the first time.
