It's a dog-gone delightful family film. The adorable pooch steals the show. This is one hot-dog!

He's discovered by Firehouse 55 when they respond to a fire and is rescued from the roof of the burning building. The captain (Bruce Greenwood) puts the pooch in the care of his son (Josh Hutcherson), who is given the task of cleaning him up and posting "found dog" signs around the town. Dewey, as he is known now since his movie prop dog tag is still around his neck, is more than a rescued mutt. This fellow can do things, things not many dogs can do. He knows how to start the bathtub (after all, he's a Hollywood hound), and he insists on having a clean environment and cleans the messy house himself!
Shane (Hutchinson) starts to bond with the pooch, and soon they are pals, although they still fight over who sleeps in the bed! The boy's mother left when he was two and he has only had his father and the crew at the firehouse to watch over him. To say he is a lonely and confused kid is putting it mildly, but when Rexxx/Dewey comes into his life, things turn around for this kid who was always a screw up before he was befriended by the dog.
Dewey is more than just Shane's pal and after he helps him solve the mystery of a rash of fires Dewey becomes famous again, only this time as a genuine hero, not just one who plays a hero in the movies. But once he is a real hero, could he be satisfied being a pretend hero again?
The dog that fell from the sky with his expressive face and sweet heart manages to change the lives of the Fahey family forever and proves he is truly man's best friend. It's a dog-gone delightful family film. The adorable pooch steals the show. This is one hot-dog!
