Feast of Love: Review By The CryptKeeper
A very under-appreciated romantic film.

I saw this advertised way back in 2007, and it looked like it might be interesting, but it was just one of those that was forgotten about. But recently I found that Selma Blair was in it, who is the fire girl in the Hellboy films. I like her, and I like Morgan Freeman, so I picked it up at Blockbuster. Then I soon saw that Greg Kinnear is also in it, who is a very likable actor, even though I've only seen his in a few things. So I watched it, and found it was a very nice little love story. It certainly isn't the type of movie I pick up often, but I still like these kinds of movies.
The story is simple love stories, but they are all connected. It follows Greg Kinnear, who had had his wife leave him for a woman (that was Selma Blair's character, unfortunately short role). Then he finds another woman. Then you got this other woman's OTHER relationship, and Morgan Freeman's relationship as an older man, with an older woman (of course). Oh, and a young couple are together. I'm a guy, but if a love story is done right, I'll like it. It just can't be cheesy, which I didn't feel this was.
All the acting was great. Morgan Freeman was excellent, as always. Greg Kinnear again, plays a very likable character. He plays the kind of character you can't help but care about. Same with Morgan Freeman. Then all the other actors and actresses are great too. There are so many others, it'd take a while to name all of them, but they did perfect.
Director is Robert Benton, who has done some other stuff. I thought he was really good at creating a romantic atmosphere, and telling the actors how to act. But... the sex scenes were a little graphic... And took away from some of the romance... A little bit.
Visually, actually kind of cool. The colors and stuff like that are very entertaining to watch. I liked how it was dark when characters were sad, and bright when they were happy. Another great visual, was the women. They were all very pretty.
Overall, I'd say that if you like romantic movies, or cute love stories, see this. Though be warned- it isn't your little PG-13 romance thing. It is R for some F bombs and graphic nudity (Full-frontal on females. Thank God, no guys)
